The Governors are delighted to announce that Mrs Katie Johnson has been appointed as Head of Castle Court School with immediate effect.
Katie is now in her 8th Year at CCS and during this time she has held the roles of Director of Studies, Deputy Head and Acting Head. She is highly regarded by staff, parents, the children and throughout the wider school community. Like many other members of staff her own children spent much of their prep-school days at the school, and she understands first-hand how the children in our care thrive and are able achieve their full potential. The whole governing team know that her passion and commitment to Castle Court is without reproach and that she is the best person to help Castle Court develop and remain a strong thriving independent prep school.
This appointment is also significant as Katie is the first woman to lead the school since our founder Mary Donald Scott, who helped found the school in 1948 and then was Head from 1978 until 1989. Mary was forward thinking in her educational approach, as is Katie. Katie was instrumental in introducing the Pre-Senior Baccalaureate (PSB) to Castle Court, established an outstanding on-line teaching provision during Covid and helped lead the school through its last excellent ISI inspection. Katie is committed to ensuring that the educational provision at Castle Court focuses on the whole child and provides them with the knowledge and skills needed for future success in an ever-changing global world. Katie’s compassionate but forward-looking approach will, we are sure, produce a vision that will enable Castle Court to remain the leading prep school in the area.
