Our WCU Player of the Week presented by @localforddealer Maya McPherson of @CatamountSB !! McPherson put together another eye-popping stat line in the opening week of league play. She batted .700 (7-for-10) with three home runs and six runs driven in to pace the squad. She tallied multi-hit games in all three contests over the weekend, including a perfect 3-for-3 day on Sunday with two homers and four RBIs. In game two on Saturday, McPherson capped a three-homer and seven-run second inning that helped propel WCU to a 7-4 win to clinch the series and give head coach Jim Clift career win 300. She opened the weekend with a pair of hits, including an RBI knock in the opener against the Paladins, which led to an 11-7 win. She drew a hit-by-pitch in a midweek showdown against #25 Clemson, which has allowed her to reach base safely in 12 of the last 13 games. On the season, McPherson sits second in the league in batting average (.474), first in hits (45), tied for sixth in doubles (7), tied for first in homers (10), second in RBIs (38), and first in slugging percentage (.884). McPherson and the Catamounts are back in action TODAY for a doubleheader against USC Upstate beginning at 3pm before hosting UNCG on Saturday/Sunday afternoon.

Our WCU Player of the Week presented by @localforddealer is Jace Butcher of @CatamountMGolf ! Butcher helped lead the Catamounts to a runner-up finish at the Southern Intercollegiate on Monday as he earned his first career collegiate medalist honors. Butcher was the only player in the 83-golfer field to card a two-round score under par on Monday, shooting 2-under par 142 (70-72), and guided the Catamounts to a runner-up finish won by the event host, No. 34 Georgia. All told, he paced the field in par-4 scoring at 4-under par (3.80) and was tied for the tournament lead with eight birdies in the two-round event. Butcher also helped lead WCU to a second-place finish at the Peoples Championship as he placed seventh individually in the event. Butcher finished with 16 birdies for the event. All told, Butcher ranked among the tournament leaders in par-5 scoring, shooting 8-under (4.33). Butcher and the Catamounts return to the links on Tuesday, March 31st for the Cowboy Classic hosted by Wyoming.

This week in #CatamountCounty opened today with @CatamountMGolf back on the links for 36 holes. Both @CatamountSB & @CatamountBSB open a four-game week at home on Wednesday before @SoConSports play opens this weekend. @CatamountTennis is home for a pair of matches including a chromatic rivalry on Thursday against Furman. @catamountxctf continues it's outdoor season in Charlotte.

Our WCU Player of the Week presented by @localforddealer is Maya McPherson from @CatamountSB ! McPherson put together an eye-popping weekend at the plate in the Catamount Classic, finishing 9-for-14 (.643) with a triple and a pair of homers. She also collected a team-best 10 RBIs over the four games while scoring five runs in a 3-win weekend of the Catamount Classic. In Sunday's finale, her fifth homer of the season—a grand slam—capped the eight-run fifth as WCU came back for an 8-2 win. In a high-scoring nightcap with Robert Morris, McPherson added two more hits, including her second career triple and her first home run of the weekend. McPherson has 13 multi-hit games on the season following her strong weekend, as she already has hits in 17 of 20 games for WCU, and she holds the top batting average in the league by 43 points at .486. McPherson and the Catamounts close out a seven-game homestand TODAY at 1 p.m. against Presbyterian.

This week in #CatamountCounty opened today with @CatamountWGolf continuing it's spring slate. @CatamountSB closes out a seven-game homestand on Tuesday before heading to the Queen City on Wednesday. @CatamountMGolf is in action at the Peoples Golf Championship in Sea Palms. @CatamountTennis heads to neutral site action in Orlando. @CatamountBSB heads to Boone before returning home for a four-game set beginning on Thursday.
