A $620 UGREEN BOX PUTS A 10-GIGABIT PRIVATE CLOUD ON YOUR DESK AND ENDS THE MONTHLY STORAGE BILL FOR GOOD. FOUR BAYS, TWO NVMe SLOTS AND A 10GbE PORT - CALLING IT "A HARD DRIVE" MISSES THE WHOLE MACHINE.
that clip is a UGREEN NASync DXP4800 Plus, a four-bay NAS sold as your own personal cloud at home.
the pitch on screen is faster, safer, unlimited. here is what actually backs it.
what's inside:
Intel Pentium Gold 8505, a 5-core chip
8GB of DDR5, expandable to 64GB
a 128GB SSD onboard just for the OS
four SATA bays for 3.5-inch drives
two M.2 NVMe slots for fast cache or flash storage
the networking is the part that earns "faster":
one 10GbE port
one 2.5GbE port
over 10GbE it moves data at up to 1250MB/s, roughly ten times a normal home network.
"safer" is the local part.
your photos, backups and files live on drives in your room, mirrored across bays, reachable from your phone anywhere, with nothing parked on someone else's server.
"unlimited" is the money part.
cloud storage is rent that grows with every photo. a NAS is a box you buy once, then add drives as you need them.
the honest line: $620 buys the enclosure, not the drives.
four large HDDs can cost as much as the box itself, and the 10GbE only pays off if your router and switch speak 10GbE too.
the shift is not that someone sold you another hard drive.
it is a full computer, storage plus 10-gigabit networking plus its own OS, collapsed into a box that fits on a shelf.
no monthly cloud rent, no files on a stranger's server, no bill that grows with your library.

AMD is reportedly raising Radeon GPU prices by around 10%.
The company waited until Nvidia raised its prices before making the same move.
According to reports, the company has started charging board partners more for Radeon GPU and memory bundles after Nvidia recently increased its own prices.
The higher costs are expected to take effect in August.

A GUY MAKES ~$10,000 A MONTH BREAKING INTO HOTEL ROOMS - AND THE HOTELS PAY HIM FOR IT.
It starts with a contract: a hotel group wants to know how a criminal beats their locks before a real one does it for free.
He checks in like a normal guest - keycard in one pocket, a small device in the other. He holds it near his own key and reads it: the same tech the whole building trusts to keep doors shut.
Then he probes the weak spots - the lock that trusts a copied key too easily, the reader nobody updated, the master logic never re-checked since install.
He breaks nothing that isn't his. He documents it, leaves, and returns at a random hour to confirm the gap is real.
One report, one invoice. Weeks later the locks are patched - guests never know how open it was.
Same instinct as a burglar, opposite direction. Legal, and it pays.
Most of that work now is digital. Here's how the mindset becomes income - authorized targets only

Claude Shannon, a juggler, a tinkerer, the Einstein of communications - the man is an inspiration on how to live a life full of curiosity.
Reading this #book, it’s clear that Claude never boxed himself into a category. He will build things with his hands, prove theorems, and dream of a future (full of AIs and robots).
When a journalist asked about his secret for living an easy life, he replied: “I don’t care for being useful. I do whatever comes naturally to me”.
This modest attitude from someone who dropped the bombshell that information theory is unmatched against other scientific giants who took themselves way too seriously.
Read the biography. It’s a detailed glimpse into his inspiring attitude towards life.

Her books are amazing.
As a scientist familiar with this subject matter, you should read this book. I mean, you need to read this book.
