Good initial discussion about local government reorganisation ideas for #Gloucestershire with District and County Council leaders & chief execs at Shire Hall this morning. Many more meetings ahead - with strong community connections a top priority for any new arrangements

🚍 Rural bus service funding is a big concern to people in Gloucestershire as well as Herefordshire. We need buses to connect people and places, including services than run across the county boundary - like the 84/85 which until 1 Sept connected Wotton with Yate.

It’s simply wrong that urban areas get much higher levels of bus subsidy than rural areas. Today in Parliament, I challenged the minister to reverse this inequality and fund rural bus services fairly.

Following our grant from the #ChewingGumTaskForce we've now invested in some fantastic gum removal equipment! We're now training our crews & will be making a start on cleaning the district's streets soon 🥾✨

July council meeting this evening covered many issues, including investment in local leisure facilities, the county economic strategy, addressing the problem of litter, and @StroudDC’s support for the fantastic bid by @prideinglos for @EuroPride 2027! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
