Creation of a “pre-NHS” focusing on preventive healthcare could unlock billions for the UK within two decades, according to the head of a taskforce investigating radical new improvements to the nation’s wellbeing. Professor John Deanfield, the first-ever government champion for personalised prevention, has concluded that a parallel health service is required to save the NHS. He said: “A reorientation towards prevention is the only way to avert the growing health and wealth crisis.” Read more here: theguardian.com/society/articl… #DetectPreventLive #FindMe #FreedomFromFailure #25in25

#HeartFailure figures are set to double by 2040, with 400,000 undiagnosed patients in the UK. But despite being the largest chronic condition in cardiology, funding, resources and services are limited in comparison to other conditions which lead to HF such as diabetes and kidney disease. We must work together towards a sustainable plan to tackle those with and at risk of Heart Failure. #25in25 Read the full article here: express.co.uk/life-style/hea…

British Society for Heart Failure #theFword
The British Society for Heart Failure (BSH) is calling on all political parties to: • Adopt, UK-wide, the 25in25 initiative, supported by 60+ healthcare organisations, which aims to reduce deaths due to heart failure by 25% in the first year of diagnosis within the next 25 years, saving 10,000 lives every year • Prioritise patient care by supporting clinicians across specialities and healthcare systems to work together to prevent avoidable heart failure deaths, making every contact count • Fund recruitment and retention of more heart failure specialist clinicians • Prioritise the heart failure training, education and upskilling of clinicians delivering HF care across specialities and healthcare landscapes, supported by the British Society for Heart Failure, to expedite diagnosis through better symptom recognition, earlier testing and collaboration • Direct funding into systematic case-finding of undetected heart failure through the 25in25 implementation programme which will lead to optimisation and equality of care for all those in communities who need it. #25in25 #FreedomFromFailure #FindMe
