Comparable to Augustine's moment, the ambitions of Bulgakov's theological project hit hard limits if it only remains *theology*. Consolation that remains so wilts against the imperial barbarism of the 21st century. Theology calls us to a higher, more radically negative politics!

The resurgence of interest in Bulgakov within Anglo-American theology expresses the anxiety emerging out of the 21st c. re-articulation of American empire into something far more openly aggressive and the horror at how the same tools for mass murder also displaces responsibility

biggest one rn is the ICE warehouse camp plans. There was a minute with rumors of warehouses being bought up by feds around 2020 and friends and I were speculating about them being used for mass internment of migrants and homeless. then we backed down like "nah we need to chill"
