🧵To the priests of Catholic Twitter: As we hear tragic news recently of another priest who has taken his own life, I feel compelled to share this. You may not see this, what I say may not make any difference, and some of you may not care, but I feel led to:

@jakecmelik I know this struggle well at my own parish. Even with the little bit of extra info I do find out since I work for my diocese, I don’t think this is taken into account enough. Sounds like it’s an issue in a lot of places

TLDR; Being a good man & a good priest doesn't automatically make someone a good pastor, & that is bumming me out.

Life is weird. Our pastor has been our parish for 30 years. He's been told he's retiring this year (that threat is LIKELY why our current bishop never tried to move him) & will be around the parish helping dispense sacraments, along with another retired priest in residence. 🧵

@_ellyg_ It’s been wild to wrap my head around it! I truly never thought this was possible. Thankfully most priests have been fine with handling it but it’s still an extra step and sometimes a barrier to me receiving our Lord that I’m very glad is gone

🧵I received our Lord in the Host for the first time in my entire life yesterday! Allow me to explain… As a child in preparation for First Communion, my whole class was taken into the sacristy to practice. We were given unconsecrated hosts and little paper cups of wine

Not even struggled to get it down but managed. Truly no issue. Yesterday, I went to Mass after work and consumed the Host for the first time in my entire life! Of course I believe Jesus is fully present in both species, but now have no limitation and need no accommodation

@Anna_Paolicelli I’ve literally never heard “containing in itself all delight” before I’ve only heard “having all sweetness within it” or “containing within it all sweetness” which at least are similar sounding enough at the end that it’s not the absolute worst if you get people with a mix

So the CFRs are collectively a “containing in itself all delight” people and the Catholic Underground congregation was overrun by “having all sweetness within it” people 😤
