Sources and more information: The information about Lúcia’s demonic nightmare and possession comes directly from her own original Portuguese journal, “Memórias da Irmã Lúcia I”, pp. 85-87. Lucia later reasoned her mother’s pessimism about the apparition may have led to her nightmare. But Lucia’s admission that a “strange force” came over her and forced her to go to the apparition following this nightmare is telling. And at the apparition, she cried out in fear while being shown a terrifying hell vision. In her memoir, Lucia also tells us about Francisco’s encounter with the devil. So it wasn’t just her. The best source that compiles information about Mary’s appearance and the visitation from the angel of light are the books “Heavenly Lights” and “Celestial Secrets”, by PhD History professor Joaquim Fernandes and Fatima scholar Fina D’Armada. The evidence clearly does not support this idea. Modern narratives often disregard this altogether, often leaving readers with the opposite impression that the children had actually delivered accurate prophecy of the war ending and a new one beginning.)
