I don’t believe there is enough time left to rally the kind of public awareness needed to #SaveAtlas. We will try. But with the State Court of Appeals hearing on the 30th, time is not on his side. And that is a hard thing to say. But I do want to say this, to @CityofBedfordtx , @TarrantCountyTX , Dan Cogan, Mayor of Bedford, the Tarrant County Judge @TimothyOHare , Municipal Court Judge Timothy Murphy, Judge Jennifer Rymell, and the @BedfordTXPD : Euthanasia should be the very LAST option when it comes to a family pet. Not the first. Not the default. Not the outcome when there are still other paths available. There are alternatives. Secure containment. Muzzle requirements. Strict leash and control laws. Behavioral training and rehabilitation. Independent evaluations. Liability insurance. Transfer to qualified rescues or sanctuaries. Court-ordered compliance measures. These are real options. They are used every day. They protect the public without taking a life. Once euthanasia is carried out, there is no appeal. No correction. No second chance. No matter what happens next in this case, I hope those in positions of authority take a step back and ask: Was every possible alternative truly considered? #SaveAtlas #PrayForAtlas

This case involves a 4-year-old German Shepherd named Atlas, who has been held in a shelter for over 300 days while his case moves through the courts.
According to court filings, this all began with a “dangerous dog” hearing in Bedford, Texas.
And what is alleged to have happened in that hearing should concern everyone.
The filings state that the owner was kept in the lobby and not allowed to fully participate in the municipal court hearing where Atlas’s fate was decided.
From there, Atlas was labeled a “dangerous dog” and ultimately ordered euthanized.
His owner appealed.
The order was upheld.
Now the case is in the Court of Appeals.
A stay has been granted during the appeal, meaning Atlas is still alive while this process continues.
But serious concerns are being raised in the filings, including:
• Missing court records
• Lack of proper documentation
• Questions about due process
This is not just about one dog.
This is about whether the system works the way it’s supposed to when a life is on the line.
No matter where you stand, every case like this deserves a fair and transparent process.

After reading the file, I had to walk away from my computer and cry.
According to court filings, in Bedford, TX, the owner was not allowed into the municipal hearing where they decided her dog should die.
Shame on you, Bedford, Texas.
