Reflecting on the #IWD2026 keynote by @ktikolo at the @KingdomBankKE dinner. She reminded us that giving isn't just about charity, it’s an investment with a powerful multiplier effect. Her call to action for women centres on three pillars: 1. Give mentorship 2. Give yourself the gift of learning 3. Give collaboration a chance Which of these three resonates most with your journey this year? #GivetoGain

What a fitting close to the inaugural #YSDF2026. Over the past two days, leaders from government, industry, training institutions, and development partners have come together to confront one of Kenya’s most pressing challenges: aligning skills development with the labour market's needs. From honest reflections on the youth employment challenge to the launch of the Dual Apprenticeship Programme, the forum has shown the power of collaboration in shaping practical solutions. As the conversations conclude, one thing is clear: building a responsive skills system requires continued partnership between education, industry, and policy. Here’s to turning dialogue into action #YSDF2026.

A recurring theme in the conversation was how to ensure that skills development systems truly respond to labour market demand while also achieving scale. Panellists emphasised that while many successful initiatives already exist, the real challenge lies in expanding these models so that they can benefit significantly larger numbers of young people. #YSDF2026

At #YSDF2026, Hendrina Doroba, Manager for Education & Skills Development at the @AfDB_Group , emphasised that the Bank’s 10-year strategy places private sector engagement at the centre of Africa’s skills development agenda. Africa needs 18M jobs annually, yet many young people remain unemployed or in jobs not aligned with their qualifications. @Swisscontact @LabourSPKE

Kenya’s youthful population is one of our greatest assets. However, the gap between skills training and industry demand remains a key challenge. Strengthening work-based learning is essential to bridging this gap. #YSDF2026 @Madikizela_Win @KAM_Kenya @MarkMasai @Swisscontact
