We live in a very different America today. July 13, 2024 was a turning point in American history. For the first time in over 40 years, since President Reagan was shot, an assassination attempt was made on a living American president. Another patriotic, God-fearing American lost his life in the evil attack. By God’s mercy and providential hand alone, President Trump’s life was spared. Only one inch in the bullet’s trajectory would have made all the difference.
The legacy media and liberal politicians have repeatedly labeled President Trump and conservatives, who have voted for him, as an “existential threat to American democracy.” President Biden has repeatedly used this vitriolic language. Though not directly responsible for the attack, the constant scaremongering and character demonization by the left for the past ten years has made the atmosphere a tender box for physical violence against President Trump and other conservatives, as evidenced by the violent attack yesterday.
When I drove over the bridge between Atlantic Beach and Morehead City, North Carolina this afternoon, this solitary man was standing and waving a Trump flag for everyone to see. After I drove past, I got out of my truck and took this picture. He represents how many Americans feel. He represents how I feel.
The attack on President Trump represents an attack against conservatives everywhere. It represents an assault on the conservative worldview. Though I doubt President Trump to be a born-again Christian, he certainly has advanced the most conservative ideology while in office since Ronald Reagan. Against relentless lies and assaults he has stood resiliently against all opposition. And yesterday in the face of death, he emerged victorious with blood on his face and his fist held high. For conservatives everywhere that victory represents hope for the future. If God spared the life of the most conservative president in forty years, who will now most likely be re-elected in November, perhaps He will preserve our republic. Of course the salvation must be spiritual. There must be revival. There must be a genuine turning back to God. But perhaps President Trump will be able to hold off the cultural degradation in the meantime. Indeed, on this day, July 14, 2024, we live in a much different America. There is much to praise God for.
