The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs celebrated International Customs Day at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, with Hon’ble Minister of State for Finance, Sh. Pankaj Chaudhary, as the Chief Guest. The event was attended by Sh. Arvind Shrivastava, Revenue Secretary, Sh. Vivek Chaturvedi, Chairman, CBIC, Members of the Board, senior officials of CBIC, representatives from Partner Government Agencies, and members of trade and industry. 👉The celebration highlighted the critical role of Customs in facilitating legitimate trade, strengthening border security, and promoting economic growth. Emphasis was laid on technology-driven reforms, trust-based processes, and collaborative engagement with stakeholders to enhance transparency and efficiency. The event also recognised outstanding contributions of Customs officers across the country and reaffirmed the Department’s commitment towards seamless trade, citizen-centric initiatives, and secure supply chains in line with India’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

But today there is extra reason for the people of India as well as us Europeans to be happy. ❤️ Prime Minister Modi and EU leaders are expected to announce the free trade agreement between India and Europe during the ceremonies in Delhi. As a block Europe is Indias largest trading partner. When the US has started weaponizing trade, its so important that Bharat and Europe understand what trade is all about - a tool for mutual cooperation, a tool to provide jobs and prosperity for both Indians and Europeans.
