Ms. Zarqa Yaftali: "Since the Taliban returned to power in August 2021, Afghanistan’s justice system has undergone a dramatic transformation. Courts and legal institutions still exist in name, but their function has fundamentally changed. We celebrate 8 March, women’s international day as the women & girls in Afghanistan 🇦🇫 are suffering under one of the worst social, economic and political restrictions worldwide. The Taliban has banned education,work, economic & political participation and turned Afghanistan into the biggest prisons for women. But our brave women movement has proved her resilient & leads at the forfront of a national resistance against tyranny and injustice. Today the world celebrates women. But in Afghanistan, women are being erased. While girls around the world walk into classrooms, Afghan girls are forced to stay home. When a girl’s pen is taken away, it is not only a student who falls silent the future of a nation falls silent.
