So overall the 1899 20-134 Cleveland Spiders are literally the worst offence in mlb history but the jays being even remotely close to them in some offensive categories is a testament to this season.

Marner didn't get targeted the most. Again, this is massive revisionism. When it finally became "his turn" some of the criticisms were misplaced, but he was arguably the most popular player in town for like, 7 or 8 of his 9 seasons here.

@JeffVeillette Maybe this tweet says it all? Marner got all the shit being the Toronto boy, allowing Willy to be aloof. Marner outperformed Willy in reg season and playoffs (except in goals) and got targeted the most.

That 1st inning right there is the difference between the jays last year and this year, besides the record obviously. They did not allow pitchers to scuffle against them and get away. They crushed them. This year. They bail out other teams

I had heard the same thing dating back to his minor hockey days. Mitch Marner was obsessed with Connor McDavid and the attention he got as kids. It continued when Toronto drafted Auston Matthews. Call it jealousy or insecurity but it's always been a thing with the Marners.
