The trauma associated with trying to publish parts of my dissertation has been unfathomable. Everytime I look at it, I fall back into one of the worst times of my life. I pray one day I can look back and say “it was worth it” bc rn all I do is cry

@smileitsjoy 275 pages. But mine was purely qualitative so the results made it substantially larger. My advice: keep it simple! A good dissertation is a done dissertation. Quality over quantity

My non-STEM folks, how many words/pages (including references) were your dissertations?

For disabled people, inaccessibility is far worse than an inconvenience. Inaccessibility is isolation. Inaccessibility is segregation. Inaccessibility is discrimination. Inaccessibility is trauma. Inaccessibility is exclusion. Inaccessibility is ableism.

I’m teaching Psych 101 for the first time in almost a decade. What are the coolest new findings that I should be teaching? What did I used to teach that is now wrong?

Being both easily distracted and time blind is really the 1-2 punch of ADHD. “Ooh, let’s just look at this thing for a minute… aaand it’s been 8 hours.”

Our paper shows STEM professionals with disabilities earn up to $14k less and are less likely to be in leadership roles than colleagues that do not have disabilities. It’s beyond time to prioritize tackling the ableism and inaccessibility embedded across STEM! @JHUDisability
