Hello! I am a volunteer with charity @Bucks_SAR helping finding vulnerable missing persons 24/7 all year in all weather. On 12-13/09/2020, we will canoe, cycle and walk 100 km in 24 hours to raise much needed funds. Please donate at uk.virginmoneygiving.com/CedricLaize/1 or R|T! Thanks!

Risks of change increase with magnitude of warming from 1-3 degrees and are particularly pronounced for low flow conditions. Some of the largest changes are projected for rivers in South America, southern Africa and Australia.

We apply the TEFRIC ERFA environmental flow approach (developed with @NERCscience funding) to >57K pairs of baseline-scenario river flow time series for 321 major river basins that cover c50% of the Earth's land surface.

Our water team deployed recently as the Thames burst it's banks. The team were called to Longridge activity centre by Great Marlow school rowing club to assist recovering & securing boats that were about to cause hazards down river. Our drone team helped monitor operations.

In the last introduction to a @UCLgeography MSc lecture recorded from the river bank I said it was important to get away from our computers every so often. Difficult for a module on MIKE SHE modelling! So, for the next one, the next best thing...(the @jurawhisky is medicinal).

For the first time in over a decade I’m not spending reading week pottering about with @hburningham and @UCLgeography students in the wetlands of NE Mallorca...so a potter around a local wetlands will have to do for the time being...

Cheering through windows, honking & hollering on the streets, exuberant people making post-mortem small talk at my local cafe, channeling Tocqueville ‘Democracy in America’ vibes today.

Providing space for nature on farms is not only important for wildlife and beautiful landscapes. It can actually enhance crop yield, especially in years of bad weather. See open access paper with analysis led by excellent @RedheadGIS
