Nearly 75% of SMEs in Europe report difficulty finding the appropriately skilled workforce they need to grow and remain competitive. This skills crisis is due to the fact that Europe doesn't produce enough graduates from higher education & vocational education and training (VET).

At today’s Tripartite Social Summit, our President Fredrik Persson highlighted that the disruptions caused by the war in the Middle East, on top of Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine, make it even more imperative to boost Europe’s competitiveness. European businesses urgently need relief in three key areas: 🔹 Regulatory burden 🔹 Energy costs 🔹 Skills & innovation "We count on the European Council to translate the common ground identified in Alden Biesen into a concrete action plan with clear deadlines, for Europe’s prosperity. Social partners should also be involved when shaping policies that affect jobs and the labour market. Strong cooperation between employers and workers has always proven to help build competitive industries, create quality jobs, and support a more inclusive future.
