Encrypted messaging, like @signalapp, is critical for preserving our digital privacy. Two important next steps for the space are (i) permissionless account creation and (ii) metadata privacy. @session_app and @SimpleXChat are two messaging apps pushing these directions forward. Neither of the two are perfect pieces of software, they have a way to go to get to truly optimal user experience and security. Strong metadata privacy requires decentralization, decentralization is hard, users expecting multi-device support makes everything harder. Sybil / DoS resistance, both in the message routing network and on the user side (without forcing phone number dependence) adds further difficulty. These problems need more eyes on them. I wish all teams working on these important problems best of luck.

@mert We are creating one pretty secure but still needs central servers. However, they act only as a dumb relay for the messages and you can run one (or several) at home too. Everything is pretty much post quantum safe too, encrypted on client side.

All in all, AI is a bad designer but it creates functional (somewhat bloated) code pretty fast.

Been playing with Claude AI to work on frontend for my #cellframe masternode inspector plugin. It does marvelous job, it does tasks in minutes! When I was doing WebUI for masternodes, I obviously manually created everything and the base HTML probably took weeks to complete.

New “post-quantum” blockchain projects are popping up every week. Most are scams. Closed source → almost certainly fake. Using ECDSA/EdDSA → not post-quantum. No ML-DSA or other NIST recommended sigs -> not post-quantum.
