The spirit of service doesn’t stop for our nation’s veterans. It continues in many meaningful ways. Our Minnesota Veterans employee resource group recently volunteered at the @MACVorg Summer Salute, a resource fair to connect veterans with vital services to support stability and wellbeing. This serves as a powerful example of the continued service of our brave men and women, as they walk alongside their fellow veterans with care, understanding and kindness. We’re grateful for MACV and our team for showing up for our community’s veterans.

Our veterans’ courage, commitment and sacrifices have shaped our nation and the freedoms we enjoy daily. As we head toward the 250th anniversary of the USA, we wanted to honor the brave men and women who have served by increasing veteran access to mental health resources, stable housing and everyday essentials. Through a special grant opportunity, the CenterPoint Energy Foundation is proud to invest in 18 nonprofit organizations in Minnesota to support the needs of our veterans and their families. We nailed it...literally. Over the course of one week, more than 60 CenterPoint Energy employees rolled up their sleeves and put in 400+ hours alongside @tchabitat in North Minneapolis. We swung hammers, put up drywall and installed siding helping build a home that a local family will soon call home. This is what neighbors helping neighbors looks like. Trash talk never looked so good as when litter met its match in Mankato. Our volunteers spent a few hours cleaning up County Road 57/ Minnesota River Valley Scenic Bi-way with Adopt-a-Highway, a tradition we’ve had in place since 2002. With safety vests, gloves and grabbers deployed, we collected 11 bags of trash, making the road safer and cleaner for our neighbors. Big thanks to our team for rolling up their sleeves and showing up for our communities.

We came, we dug, we planted trees. 🌲 Our team worked with Tree Trust and students from Falcon Ridge Elementary in New Prague to plant 25 trees. As the trees take root, they’ll offer shade, beauty and a reminder to students of how they can make a greener tomorrow possible. We had a tree-rific time growing outdoor spaces that’ll be enjoyed for years to come.
