Earlier today, a third party unrelated to CenterPoint Energy struck a natural gas main near S. Post Oak Blvd. and Guilford Ct. Crews responded immediately and collaborated with emergency responders to make the area safe. S. Post Oak Blvd. has been temporarily closed as crews work to shut off the flow of natural gas and complete repairs safely and as quickly as possible. Repairs are estimated to be completed today.

Cold temperatures have returned to Texas, and heaters may be coming back on. Use space heaters safely and if you smell natural gas or suspect a gas leak, leave everything as is, leave the area on foot and call us at 888-876-5786 from a safe location. A Wind Advisory remains in effect for the Greater Houston area. For your safety, if you see a wire down, assume it's energized and dangerous, and stay at least 35 feet away. Report potential hazards immediately at 713-207-2222.

Final windstorm update: We understand any outage is disruptive and thank our customers for their patience following a storm with heavy winds across the Greater Houston area. Crews responded safely and quickly following Sunday night’s windstorm, and at no point were more than 1% of customers without power. Approximately 93% of our 2.9 million customers experienced no impacts, and as of this afternoon, fewer than 2,000 CenterPoint customers remain without power. Despite the heavy winds overnight, 94% of our customers did not lose power. Our crews continue working safely to make repairs and respond to outages, and we’ll remain in the field until service is restored to every customer.

We know being without power is frustrating, and we appreciate the patience of our customers who are impacted. Crews continue making repairs following last night's high winds while also responding to any new outages. More than 99% of our customers currently have power, and at no point during the wind event were more than 1% without service. We’ll continue working safely and efficiently to restore all remaining outages as quickly as possible.
