In a significant move, the Islamabad High Court, through Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani has urged the government to introduce legislation granting homemaker wives an equitable share in assets acquired during marriage.

Lahore High Court has clarified that if no time for payment of Mehr is mentioned in the Nikahnama, it becomes payable whenever the wife demands it. The court further emphasized that a woman’s right to Mehr remains valid even during marriage, not just after separation.
