It's surprising that the French have managed to keep Île de Ré largely to themselves, given how easy it is to get to. The Americans haven't really arrived yet, most of the tourism is domestic.

Île de Ré is connected to the French mainland by this 3km bridge. Other side and you are virtually in the beautiful city of La Rochelle, which I'll probably visit on Sunday.
