ABUJA, FCT MAY 6, 2026 PRESS STATEMENT APC NWC WAIVES SCREENING REQUIREMENTS FOR PRESIDENT TINUBU The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at its 188th Meeting, held today May 6, 2026, resolved to waive, and has waived, screening requirements for His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and deemed him as duly screened in accordance with the Constitution of the Party for the purpose of participation in the upcoming primary elections. This decision was made pursuant to the powers conferred on the NWC under Article 13.4 (xiii) and (xiv) of the Constitution of APC to organise and supervise the Party’s primaries and, in special circumstances, grant waivers, in the best interest of the Party. The NWC noted that the President @officialABAT has received overwhelming endorsement and vote of confidence from critical stakeholders of the Party, including the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), the leadership and members of the National Assembly, and other organs of the Party at the APC National Summit of May 22, 2025, and other major statutory events of the Party. It noted further that, as the incumbent President, and leader of our great Party, having been duly screened and cleared ahead of the 2022 presidential primaries, requiring his physical appearance before a screening committee, at this time, would be redundant and unnecessary. SOCIAL MEDIA IS NOT A BATTLEFIELD COMMAND – WHY THE NIGERIAN ARMY’S ACTION AGAINST JUSTICE CRACK IS A NATIONAL SECURITY IMPERATIVE By Tijjani Tanko INTRODUCTION: NATION AT WAR CANNOT AFFORD A SECOND FRONT Nigeria is not at peace. Across the North East, North West, and North Central, our armed forces are locked in daily combat against terrorists and bandits. Thousands of soldiers are deployed forward, often without rotation, facing an enemy that watches every word on social media. In this environment, the difference between “free speech” and “subversive act” is not academic – it is life and death. The Nigerian Army recently arrested a social media influencer, Justice Mark Chidiebere (known as “Justice Crack”), and handed him to civil authorities. His crime: systematically spreading content designed to turn soldiers against their commanders over welfare issues – beyond legitimate criticism into active incitement of insubordination. Public outcry has followed, with many calling the Army a silencer of whistleblowers. This statement argues the opposite: the Army acted lawfully, proportionately, and in the highest interest of national security. WHAT JUSTICE CRACK ACTUALLY DID On 2 May 2026, the Army announced the arrest of Justice Crack alongside several soldiers. Investigations showed he had built direct communication lines with frontline troops. He did not merely amplify complaints about rations or equipment – he actively urged soldiers to question their commanders’ legitimacy, refuse orders, and post videos attacking military hierarchy. Some soldiers admitted receiving small payments to share internal grievances that should have gone through proper channels. Crucially, the Army did not court‑martial the influencer. He was handed over to civilian police for normal criminal prosecution. That is not military dictatorship; that is constitutional democracy where no one – influencer or general – is above the law. WHY THE CRITICISM IS MISPLACED AND DANGEROUS First, critics confuse “whistleblowing” with “subversion.” A real whistleblower reports specific, verifiable wrongdoing to lawful authorities – Defence Headquarters, Human Rights Commission, or the media with evidence. Justice Crack did none of that. He broadcast unverified, one‑sided narratives meant to make soldiers feel abandoned. In a war zone, that is not transparency; it is psychological warfare. Second, timing is everything. Isolated welfare lapses exist in every army – including the US, UK, and Russia. But during war, amplifying those lapses in real time to combat units hands the enemy a propaganda tool. Terrorist groups already use such posts to claim “the Nigerian Army is starving” or “commanders don’t care,” lowering troop morale and encouraging desertion. Third, the Army acted with restraint. No soldier was shot. No journalist was jailed. The influencer was detained, investigated, and transferred to civilian police – exactly the same process for any civilian who incites factory workers to sabotage production during wartime. Why should the military be held to a lower standard? Fourth, the slippery slope argument cuts both ways. Critics fear any arrest will clamp down on dissent. But the greater risk is inaction: if the military does nothing while influencers systematically undermine command authority, the result will be crumbling discipline, friendly fire, and avoidable deaths. Which is more humane – arresting one influencer for investigation, or allowing a thousand soldiers to die because they lost faith in their leaders? THE HARSH REALITY OF WARTIME MORALE Military psychology is clear: a soldier who believes his nation has abandoned him hesitates. In counter‑insurgency, hesitation kills. The difference between a successful ambush and a fatal one is often split seconds. When a frontline soldier spends his rest time watching a viral video accusing his commander of stealing his meal allowance, trust in the chain of command erodes.

Nigeria National Grid@NationalGridNg

BRACE UP : DARKNESS LOOMS IN LAGOS A prolonged blackout may be imminent in Lagos State following a sudden shutdown of the Egbin Power Station and a simultaneous transmission line outage. Egbin Power Station suffered a major operational disturbance, leading to a complete loss of generation. This has lead to a significant reduction in power generation currently affecting electricity supply across the country, particularly within the Lagos region. Egbin Power Station, which is the largest electricity-generating plant on the national grid and a major contributor to daily power supply in Nigeria, experienced a major operational disturbance. At approximately 8:21 p.m. on April 28, 2026, Egbin Power Station recorded a total loss of generation, dropping from about 641MW to zero output. This incident was caused by the failure of the plant’s central compressor, in addition to a malfunction of the circulating water pump system, which necessitated an immediate shutdown of all generating units to safeguard the facility.” The impact of the generation loss was compounded by a transmission constraint affecting power delivery into Lagos. Power supply to the Lagos region is currently further restricted due to the forced outage of the Osogbo–Ikeja West 330kV transmission line, thereby limiting the evacuation of available generation into the Lagos load centre.

30th April 2026. I address you today with a deep sense of responsibility and clarity of purpose regarding the future of our party and our dear state, Lagos. A few days ago, I took a decisive step in line with my aspiration to serve by procuring the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for the 2027 Lagos State gubernatorial election under the platform of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). That step was driven by conviction, consultation, and a genuine desire to contribute to the progress of our state. However, leadership also demands the capacity to make difficult but necessary decisions that prioritize collective interest above personal ambition. Following the endorsement of Dr. Kadiri Hamzat by our Leader, the President of Nigeria, and Leaders of our party in Lagos, and in recognition of the prevailing realities within the political landscape of our great party, I have decided to withdraw from the 2027 Lagos State gubernatorial race. This decision is not borne out of weakness or a lack of capacity, but out of strength, discipline, and a deep respect for party cohesion and unity. Let me be unequivocal: I remain a loyal and committed member of the APC. I also reaffirm my unalloyed loyalty and respect for the President and national leader of our party, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. His leadership remains central to the stability and progress of our party and the nation at large. In line with this, I hereby fully align myself with the position and direction of Mr. President regarding the Lagos State gubernatorial process. Party supremacy and strategic alignment are critical to sustaining the gains we have collectively built over the years. To the Lagos4Lagos Movement, I extend my profound gratitude. This movement has never been about one individual; it has always been about a cause, equity, inclusion, and a better Lagos for all. That cause remains alive, and it must now find expression in our collective support for the party’s chosen direction. I urge all our supporters, leaders, and stakeholders to remain calm, focused, and committed. This is a moment to consolidate, not to divide; to build, not to fracture. Politics is a continuum. Today’s decision is part of a larger journey of service, and I remain fully committed to contributing meaningfully to the growth of our party and the development of Lagos State. To the media, I thank you for your professionalism and continued engagement. To our supporters across the state, your loyalty and belief have been humbling. I do not take it for granted. Together, we will continue to work for the progress of Lagos and the success of our great party. Thank you. God bless the Lagos4Lagos Movement. God bless the All Progressives Congress. And God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran JANDOR

The Nigeria Police Force acknowledges that this action was wrong. On 26 April 2026, in Effurun, Delta State, Mene Ogidi lost his life due to the unjustified use of force by a Police officer. Officers responded to a report of a suspect apprehended at Benin Motor Park with a concealed Beretta pistol. While efforts were being made to take him into custody, Asp Nuhu Usman discharged his firearm. The circumstances surrounding the incident, as reflected in the circulating video and preliminary findings, indicate a clear violation of established regulations. A man has lost his life, and a family is grieving. The Delta State Commissioner of Police has directed the Area Commander to bring ASP Usman and his team to Force Headquarters in Abuja. The Force Disciplinary Committee will review the case, followed by criminal prosecution. Accountability will be enforced without exception. The Force leadership extends its deepest condolences to Mene Ogidi’s family and assures them that justice will be served fully without compromise. To the people of Effurun and all Nigerians, your concerns are heard. The Force remains committed to ensuring that such actions are properly addressed and do not occur again.
