Immortalizing WEN Culture I’m delighted today to introduce WEN, which I shall unveil over 5 parts: 1. The Poem 2. The NFT 3. The NFT Standard 4. The First Culture Token In Crypto 5. The First LFG Launchpad Project It’s a doozy, so let us walk through it how it all unfolded over the last month. 1) WEN: The Poem Last month, as a tribute to all the WEN bois in my discord, DMs and my face asking about wen airdrop and wen free token and wen I will do something, I did the only thing a rational highly stressed founder would do and wrote a love letter to all of them. x.com/weremeow/statu… To my surprise, it was very universally well received by everyone, including fellow founders, serious people, moonbois and most importantly the targets of my love, the wenbois. The many, many positive public and private responses I got for this actually made me realize one thing - that far beyond a moonboi phenomena, WEN is actually an extremely integral part about how crypto operates. The insane anticipation of projects/announcements/updates, the individualistic degen and communal energy that builds up in the meantime and finally the dissipation of that energy into the dynamic exchange of a new form of money and newly formed community - with part of that rotating into the next big anticipation - and then the cycle repeats until boom, a whole new higher level market cycle emerges. And I realise this cycle of a never ending WEN is absolutely crucial to the culture of crypto - and is as integral to its success as the underlying technology itself. 2) WEN: The NFT And what does a good degen do when he accidentally mucks up some art that’s half good and wants to immortalise it? Correct, he will try to make it an NFT! But since i am a n00b, but still trying pretty hard to prove my degen creds, I donated this poem to the excellent team at @OvolsNFT and worked with the team to make it into my first NFT! You can see it here: ovols.com/vault/WENWENvq… It is a 1/1 collection right now, tho depends on how it goes, I could try to put more art if this goes well, but I need more encouragement cause I am a shy cat. 3) WEN: The NFT Standard And of course if you are going to go through the trouble of making a new NFT, and everyone has been asking wen new NFT standard, you might as well make a new NFT standard along the way. So today, I am happy to share version 0.0 of the WEN New Standard (WNS), an extremely lightweight NFT standard built on top of Token2022 for maximum ecosystem composability, flexibility and backward compatibility. WNS 0.0 starts off extremely simple, with only 3 fields (name, symbol, uri), and new functions will be added only upon community alignment. WEN NFT In Explorer: As a result of this simplicity, the token standard is already viewable on Solana explorer in the form of this new poem explorer.solana.com/address/FumKKE… Explorer PR: Thanks to the explorer improvement to support showing all Token2022 extensions github.com/solana-labs/ex… Forum Post The initial proposal for the token standard is being proposed @OvolsNFT and @JupiterExchange, and completely up to suggestion and changes from the community. jupresear.ch/t/wen-new-stan… Github And the very lightweight contract focused on enforcing certain NFT requrements, with all other requirements to be added with community agreement here:. github.com/wen-community/… Next Steps For WNS The next steps for this is to work with the community towards 0.01, and from there we can find a suitable very small scale project to launch that with. The name definitely does not need to be WEN token standard, it's just a fun way to start. The ecosystem can align on a new name later on, and Jupiter and Ovols will extremely supportive of whatever name is chosen. I have to emphasise that this is also a deeply personal choice. As a cat, I like things to be as simple and non-binding as possible, and it is my very first NFT, the existing standards did not quite match my needs. New standards are usually extremely hard to start due to backward compatibility, ecosystem adoption and buyer hesitance, but thankfully we likely don’t need any of that for this one off NFT. Why? Firstly, I don’t care about this being seen anywhere and secondly, we are gonna break this NFT into a trillion pieces anyway ;) 4) WEN: The Culture Coin But of course, WEN is not just limited to the WEN bois. Wen is actually all of us. We are all WEN boi or a WEN girl one way or the other. Even @toly and @bennybitcoins was WENing me all the way last year till Breakpoint, and I WEN my team everyday on the 1000 features, until they often ignore me, much like I unfortunately also often ignore the WEN bois. Deep down, we are all WEN bois. As such, we need to make this WEN NFT as accessible as possible to everyone. So instead of having only one owner of this NFT, we have fractionalized this WEN NFT into a trillion little pieces via the Ovols platform. If, big if, WEN becomes a widely acknowledged token with staying power, it will set a few firsts: 1. The first culture token that symbolizes a crucial aspect of crypto culture 2. The first memecoin based on fractionalizing an NFT, even if the wide distribution makes it unlikely that it might ever be reassembled. 3. The first prose based memecoin alongside WUT*. As everyone knows, I am a fan of prose, for while prose is not as immediately visual as say a cute animal or as concrete as a brand, I believe prose based memecoins are extremely versatile and have a lot of room to become a component of the memecoin world. And if we acheive this together, it would be a really, really nice contribution to how people think about memecoins, culture and prose. And that'll be pretty sick. 5) WEN: The First LFG Beta Project Last but not least, WEN is also our first, n0n-test, official beta LFG project. Launch will be in exactly 24 hours. Link: lfg.jup.ag/wen Timing: 26th Jan 10am EST Details: wenwencoin.com Twitter : @wenwencoin Community: discord.com/invite/ovolsnft (wen-chat) All project details will be answered by @OvolsNFT, while all launchpad support handled by @JupiterExchange. 70% To Million Receiving Wallets 70% of WEN will be made available to over a million wallets, including active Jupiter users from the last 6 months, several top NFT collection holders, Ovols holders, and genesis saga holders (so they stfu) Every wallet will gets the same. :D This means it will be extremely distributed from day one, with a tight guarantee that no one person can have a large supply, unless he whales it out or manages to super heavily bot it out a very large initial supply (unlikely due to mechanisms, but we will see) The rest of the 20% will go to the launch DLMM pool, while the remaining 10% will be for the WEN treasury to use as they see fit for LP, promote WEN culture or drive the WNS forward. 1% from the treasury will in turn be provided to LFG Launchpad, 0.75% goes to the future Jupiter DAO, and 0.25% for the team. Stress Test For Beta LFG Launchpad As noted in my launchpad annoucement we are still in beta and there are many, many issues that can go wrong, from infra, to ux, to contracts to everything else, despite running mutiple tests internally and externally. For example, we have extensive bot equalizing measures set up (low max swap in first 2 minutes), steep initial price curve, giving users ability to set orders ahead of time, it is impossible to know how well these work in practise. So we will see if it works, live together. x.com/weremeow/statu… Ahead of the JUP launch, we believe this is a good, lower stakes stress test that would be a solid end to end test. It has even more recipients, all the similar components (with lower $ amounts), and the worst case scenarios are a lot less scary. In additon, after m0ckJUP tests, WEN and JUP launches, and if we do not fuck up so hard, we will be ready to start offering our launchpad for other projects as well. Notes: 1.
