In global finance, settlement speed is capital efficiency, and Project Pangea, powered by @Chainlink, is designed to change the game.
@Chainlink and Project Pangea are targeting one of the biggest pain points in global finance: slow FX settlement.
The key issue is T+2 versus T+0.
T+2 means trades can take two business days to settle. That creates delay, counterparty risk, and locked-up capital.
Project Pangea aims to make settlement instant.
That matters because it reduces the time money sits in transit and lowers operational friction for banks.
The project uses regulated stablecoins, which is important because this is not about replacing banks.
It is about giving banks a faster settlement rail while keeping compliance and institutional controls in place.
Chainlink is the core connector.
It provides the data, interoperability, and orchestration needed to link banking systems with blockchain networks.
It also lets banks keep using familiar infrastructure like Swift and ISO 20022 while settlement happens onchain.
That is important because institutions usually do not want to rebuild everything from scratch.
They want better settlement without breaking existing workflows.
The biggest benefit is atomic payment-versus-payment (PVP) settlement.
That means both sides of the FX trade settle together, or the trade does not complete.
This lowers settlement risk and makes the process safer for large-value transactions.
For banks and capital markets, the value is efficiency.
For DeFi, the value is proof that blockchain infrastructure is moving into real institutional use cases.

🚨BREAKING: At Point Zero Forum in Zurich, Chainlink, Qivalis, FairSquareLab, and UniKA outlined a path toward real-time, T+0 FX settlement designed to eliminate the frictions that have defined cross-border markets for decades.
The panel repeatedly pointed to the same challenges: time zones, correspondent banking, operational complexity, and delayed settlement.
The message was clear: these are no longer accepted as permanent features of global finance. They’re engineering problems that can be solved with programmable, regulated digital infrastructure.

Chainlink pulls 50 banks into a plan to settle currency trades instantly
@chainlink has launched Project Pangea, a task force aiming to bring real-time settlement to the cross-border currency market. It teams Chainlink with Korea's FairSquareLab and two banking consortia: Europe's Qivalis, backed by 37 banks, and Korea's UniKA alliance, anchored by Shinhan, Kbank and others.
The target is the Europe-Korea corridor. The plan is to let banks swap regulated euro and Korean won stablecoins directly and atomically, settling the same day instead of waiting two days. By using Chainlink's interoperability standards alongside ISO 20022 and existing SWIFT rails.

JUST IN: FX is speeding up onchain. @Chainlink, FairSquareLab, UniKA and @Qivaliseu launched Project Pangea, an initiative with banks in Europe and South Korea to test real-time FX settlement using regulated EUR and KRW stablecoins, Swift messaging and Chainlink infrastructure.
