I never thought I'd find myself sleeping in a McDonald's restaurant, but life had other plans. I lost my job in Johannesburg, and suddenly, everything came crashing down. I couldn't afford rent, and before I knew it, I was homeless. The streets can be cruel, but McDonald's became my temporary haven – a place that was open late, warm, and relatively safe. It was tough, but I refused to give up. I knew I wasn't defined by my circumstances. I started visiting local shelters, seeking job opportunities, and networking with people who could help me get back on my feet. One thing I learned along the way was the importance of asking for help when you need it. Don't be afraid to reach out to friends, family, or local organizations – there's always support available. Determination and resilience became my driving forces. I remember the nights spent in McDonald's, typing away on my phone, applying for jobs, and making plans for a better future. People might see homelessness as a setback, but I saw it as a chance to rebuild and grow stronger. If you're going through something similar, know that you're not alone. Hold on to hope, and never lose faith in yourself. Your situation might be tough, but it's not permanent. Keep pushing forward, and know that better days are ahead. You are capable of overcoming any obstacle, and your story is still being written. Don't hesitate to ask for help – it's a sign of strength, not weakness. #Resilience #Determination #HopeInTheDark #AskForHelp

Interesting perspective, but I’d respectfully disagree on the land reform point. For those of us in the value chain, the land reform unlocked opportunities for local farmers, increased participation, and created space for meaningful investment in Zimbabwean agriculture. It’s one thing to write about agriculture and another to be on the ground, driving production and seeing the growth firsthand. The current revival in horticulture, including avocado exports, is proof of what’s possible when locals are empowered to farm and invest.

It is encouraging to see that our neighbour, Zimbabwe, is reviving its horticulture industry. I hear they aim to increase their avocado exports to 6,000 tonnes, which would be double last year's exports. Even if they don't meet this target, but increase from last year, that would still be encouraging to witness. It is key that we see a broad recovery in Southern Africa's agriculture and shared prosperity. For those wondering, South Africa exports just over 50,000 tonnes of avocados a year. I state this not for comparison, but in case someone is interested. What we see in Zimbabwe remains encouraging. Indeed, had the country not gone through the challenges posed by the painful failures of the land reform programme, we likely would be talking about a more upbeat picture.

a) 15 SADC countries buy fuel from Middle East, spending $2 Billion monthly. b) We can use that money to build refineries in Angola & supply each other I’ve been saying this for years & been insulted for it. Now Africa will suffer consequences in a war we have 0% involvement !

@Rocford0 Going green is the future, no doubt. ☀️ But farmers are hurting now solar isn’t an overnight fix. Smallholders can’t switch while fuel prices keep rising. We need both: invest in renewables AND stabilize fuel prices today. Food security can’t wait.

As someone in the agricultural value chain, I feel the daily struggles of our farmers in Chiredzi, Dotito, and Umzingwane. We are already battling electricity shortages, and now fuel—the only alternative—is skyrocketing. How can farming remain sustainable without pushing food prices even higher? I fully support our government and its efforts, but part of that support is speaking up to help hold it accountable—including regulating fuel prices. We understand the Middle East conflict is real, and Zimbabwe is not the only country affected, but our farmers cannot be left to shoulder this burden alone. Profit is important, but ethics, humanity, and the survival of our people must come first. 🌱⛽ #SupportFarmers #FuelEthics #FoodSecurity #GovernmentAccountabilit

Why can't SADC countries come together and build an Oil Refinery Plant in Angola and build pipe lines that service all these countries instead of spending millions of dollars buying fuel in the Middle East What stops Africans from doing this?.

Guys, please help me name at least 3 reputable Zimbabwean news sources. And by reputable, I mean less bias and less fake news because in this era, propaganda and misinformation seem to have better distribution than the truth.

Those taxes pay for teachers, soldiers, police etc…. The same people whining that civil servants get small salaries are the same people whining about taxes…. The fuel price is going up because the Trump regime started a war in the Middle East, it’s not about taxes going up…
𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐙𝐖@CrimeWatchZW

Mthuli’s taxes are placing a heavy burden on Zimbabweans. Out of the US$2.05 you pay for a litre of diesel, about 42 cents goes to government taxes. For petrol (Blend E5), about 86 cents of the US$2.17 per litre is made up of taxes.

The "Double Hit" of Zimbabwe’s fuel hike is a crisis for exports. 🥊🇿🇼 At $2.05/L (Diesel) & $2.17 (Blend), we’re paying ~$0.85/L more than SADC neighbors. This spikes production costs (pumping/tillage) AND logistics, pricing our agricultural exports out of the regional market. 🚜🚛📉 How can 🇿🇼 compete when our "fuel tax" is this high? #Zimbabwe #Agribusiness #ZERA #SADC #ExportTrade @MoLAFWRD_Zim @ZimGvt_NDS1 @ZimTradeAlerts @zeraenergy

@mapisaanesu @ptmschihwa A fattened mombe can sell for $1800 if it’s well-fed and high quality. But that’s the exception, not the rule. Many $400 cattle are small-frame or low-grade breeds, so realistic gains vary.

That model is real pen feeding works. But let’s not oversell it. Buying at $400 and feeding at $280 doesn’t automatically yield $1300–$1800. Much depends on actual weight vs carcass weight, genetics, feed quality, and market timing. Many $400 cattle aren’t proper or high-quality breeds. What’s missing: •Mortality & disease risk •Labour & management •Feed price fluctuations •Transport & other overheads Realistic profits exist, but $600–$1000 per beast isn’t guaranteed. It’s a volume + efficiency business, not a quick flip. Transparency matters people need the full picture before committing.

“The privilege of not being a victim” — exactly. Defending EcoCash while someone is out $150 and being ignored for weeks is tone-deaf. Working with or benefiting from the brand doesn’t make you its spokesperson or shield it from accountability. People aren’t attacking your hustle, they’re demanding their money back. Fix that first before preaching loyalty @EcoCashZW must just refund him his money and you won’t hear him talking about them. Simple
