Over 200 schools across Merseyside and the surrounding areas are going to be removed from local authority control in a major academisation drive by the Archdiocese of Liverpool. The Archdiocese comprises almost 230 primary and secondary schools as well as several colleges across the region, with plans to transfer 217 schools into three distinct multi-academy trusts (MATs). challenge-magazine.org/2026/04/30/fig… #school #education #teaching #Merseyside #socialism

Census is socially engaged theatre at its finest. Award-winning duo Malandra Jacks invite you into a world of spellbinding projection, real voices and unapologetic heart. Census is part theatre, part time capsule: a celebration of communities rarely seen on stage. The performance will be followed by a Q&A session afterwards with Josh Wilkinson, Chloe Malandra of Malandra Jacks and James Quinn of Culture Matters.  📆 WEDNESDAY 08 APRIL A powerful duo of abridged screenings of London Recruits and Unsung Hero - the Jack Jones story, combined into one night of legendary political history and discussion. London Recruits mixes archive footage and first hand testimony into a dramatic telling of a small group of anti-apartheid activists in 1970s Britain. Unsung Hero - the Jack Jones story, made by Liverpool based Hurricane Films, documents trade unionist Jack Jones, from his early experience in the Spanish civil war to a life dedicated to trade unionism and activism even in his retirement.
