Overnight, CFD responded to a fire in a vacant single-family home in the 200 block of E Washington St. Fire crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire. Here are a few photos from that fire.

CFD will be training all this week at 410 W. Healey St. from 8:00 am-4:00 pm. Fire crews will be performing company-based skills, utilizing theatrical smoke. Expect to see two or three apparatus and fire companies at any given time.

This week members of Amtrak Police and Amtrak Emergency Management presented Passenger Rail Safety & Response to the Champaign Fire Department. In addition, Amtrak presented two evening sessions for our mutual aid partners in MABAS Division 28.

CFD responded to an early morning fire in a mobile home on Apricot Dr., on Monday, January 5. The occupants were safely outside when fire crews arrived. Firefighters extended multiple hose lines and were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

After you ring in the New Year, take time to talk safety at home. Take a few minutes with your family to practice your home escape plan—know two ways out of every room, choose a meeting place outside, and make sure everyone knows what to do in an emergency.

Our hearts are heavy as we honor the passing of our Fire Department Chaplain, David Ashby. His compassion, strength, and steady presence brought comfort to so many during difficult moments. We are grateful for his service to area first responders and our community.

Contractors will perform outdoor warning siren maintenance to the siren near the intersection of N. Mattis Ave and Rion Dr today, Oct. 3, from 11am-1pm. This requires activation for not over 30 sec. If an emergency exists, the sirens will activate as normal.
