@focusmoapp Definitely, it's so hard to do without changing your whole mindset though...we need to remember that a break doesn't undo everything that was done previously and picking it back up is progress in itself

Focusmo | One task at a time
@ChaosAfterCalm the no ceremony jump back in is underrated. waiting for a clean fresh start is a trap, it wants a perfect monday that never comes. picking it up mid mess, right where you dropped it, is the only version that survives an adhd brain.

True to type, I abandoned this project for the past 8 months. No grand fresh start here...just jumping back in #adhd #procrastination

@DopaminePlsMe Opening & setting up a new synthesiser that had sat in its box for a few weeks, about 5 minutes after my taxi arrived to go to the airport

ADHD folks: what’s the weirdest thing your brain declared “urgent” while you were avoiding the actual task?

@adhdjesse My favorite is when the thing stays unopened for so long that I forget what it is and get a mid-year Xmas present or 8. Then find them again in 60 months

The ADHD urge to buy a thing, watch every video about the thing, religiously track shipping until the thing arrives, excitedly open the shipping box to get to the thing, and then place the thing somewhere random to forget about it for 3-60 months.

@CoralineHatz 10 minutes is a great idea. Even a 25 minute pomodoro can intimidate me at times

Time blocking works so well for ADHD brains if you keep it flexible. You don’t need to fill the whole block. Just showing up counts. Even 10 minutes of studying is real progress. Less pressure = more momentum.

Time for an MVR, writing down 2 things I've done today and counting birds that fly past for 2 minutes wondering where they're going. After that, onto the rest of the day :)

@DopaminePlsMe Me too, absolute calm. But if I lose my favorite pen I might have a mental breakdown

I’m excellent at emergencies and weirdly allergic to “start.” If that’s you, same team.

Walked into a store today and picked up 2 bottles of shower gel and 2 bottles of shampoo. Got home and went for a shower and pulled 4 bottles of shampoo out the bag #scatterbrain #adhd

@DrGenevieve73 @DopaminePlsMe Me too but it’s a static one. I put it in front of the tv months ago so I do exercise while watching tv. However it’s just turned into an ornament because the thought of actually getting on it paralyses me

I often think living with #adhd in the modern world is akin to being given a lifetime free for all ticket to a dopamine theme park, great for a day but for life?Check out my article with the great project from @DopaminePlsMe on how to navigate the park at adhdhelp.app/en/blog/welcom…

@LDN_1630 @DopaminePlsMe I just use ChatGPT due to its memory. I’ve splurged so much into it it knows me to quite a scary extent 😅 from there I set up chats for different categories eg. morning priorities/“done” lists and positive check ins. I’ll write an article on it soon if you’re interested!

Any other forgetful folk use Siri to find their phone 86 times a day? Best feature of an iPhone for me. I’ve asked her where my cards and things are in the past though forgetting she can’t help with those #ADHD #Neurodivergent

@drjenwolkin Yes! A uni lecturer tried to correct my use of them once. They were mistaken and it’s been my favourite punctuation mark ever since 🤣 Having just put about 8 minutes thought into number 2 I think it’s ellipses. It’s often the state of my brain I guess so quite fitting

Any other writers, authors, and poets here also grieving that we can no longer use the em-dash for fear it will be mistaken for AI? RIP em-dash—you’ll be missed. XO, Dr. Jen

@audhdimposter @sens0ryoverl0ad Time blindness is reaaaaal hey. Even if I get ready to go out say 2 hours early I’ll still be late and I have no idea how. It can be very frustrating if non chronically late people simply refuse to accept it…but to be fair it must test their patience!

@OllyWaltonSaaS @DopaminePlsMe Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated, I hope you manage to succeed with it. I find the more I consciously practise the more I do it subconsciously too. I mean I still have existential crises if I can’t find a pencil that’s behind my ear or something. Just much less often 😅

@DopaminePlsMe @ChaosAfterCalm Thanks for this - this is great. I often feel like my shame hits me all at once. A tidal wave of the last week or even fortnights failures and miss steps hits me at once. Going forward I’m going to have to unpick these and try to reframe.
