Mamardashvili is such a drop off from Alisson on the ball and I’m gonna be real - it’s gonna take a humongous amount of development to get him to a decent standard in terms of distribution let alone be one of the best in the world at it. Very confused what Liverpool recruitment team were thinking going for him especially based on the profile of keepers they’ve had on their books previously.

I’m really not having this “transition season” shout at all. It just doesn’t make sense. You don’t win the league, go out and spend over £400 million and then suddenly lower the bar the next year and call it a rebuild. A transition season is when you’re starting from scratch, new manager, big clear out, expectations reset. That’s not us. We were at the top, we invested heavily, and we should be pushing on, not going backwards. Truth is, we’ve just not been good enough. Simple as that. Performances haven’t been there, consistency hasn’t been there, and instead of calling it out, people are hiding behind this idea that it’s all part of some bigger process. It isn’t. When you’ve just been champions and you’ve spent that kind of money, you don’t get to write a season off as “transition”. You’re expected to deliver. Right now, we’re falling well short of that.

@anfieldforge Proper perspective - Arsenal 2nd last year - they added to their squad didnt need to sell anyone. City last season 3rd (no trophies) added to their squad in summer and Jan time. We lose 4/5 key players from title team so of course there will be a period of transition 🤦‍♂️
