@JustANumbSkull I don't mean to offend you, but you're clearly showing that you're a fan because it's trendy. Originally, the rings do the same thing as Mario's coins, except that if you reach the goal with 50 rings you unlock a secret stage, and if you collect 100 you get an extra life.

I hate it when people play a sonic game and call the rings "coins".

Its the same reason chance doesnt have a legacy design skin, the redesigns were meant to be specifically so its not associated with soul anymore, the legacy milestones for both two time and chance are associated with soul too SO . so
