rumors are circulating that DeepSeek and Kimi are merging.. the two most dominant open-source AI labs in China.. if this is real.. China just did what it always does when an industry becomes strategic.. in 2015 they merged CNR and CSR into the world's largest train maker overnight.. did the same with Baosteel and Wuhan Steel.. same with their nuclear and telecom companies they don't let their best labs compete with each other.. they combine them into one thing and aim it at everyone else. meanwhile OpenAI is suing Elon.. Elon is suing OpenAI.. Google and Anthropic are poaching each other's teams.. billions being burned just fighting internally before anyone even looks east the sanctions were supposed to slow China down.. all they did was give them a reason to stop splitting the talent and start sharing it

@xw33bttv @robinebers @jjohana But you are comparing two different generations to a single generation with incremental improvements. I don’t see your point especially when the older generation 5.4 pro is on parity on a lot of benchmarks

When someone posts a delusional take, they'll get called delusional. You can glaze Sama's nuts all day, but dishonestly stating "The difference does not justify the hype" whilst GPT-5.1 to 5.4 has been incremental gains less than 3% on the median percentile... is batshit crazy. There's a reason that clown I quoted omitted the SWE Benchmarks, and why half these comments are suddenly about "benchmarks mean nothing" lmfao. You're all just unserious people.

Honestly this chart makes me more bullish on GPT 5.4 Pro than anything else. People are focusing on Mythos looking strong, but what stands out to me is how well 5.4 Pro already stacks up on the overlap we actually have. GPQA is basically a tie at 94.4 vs 94.5. BrowseComp is a win for GPT 5.4 Pro at 89.3 vs 86.9. Yes, Mythos is ahead on Humanity’s Last Exam, 56.8 vs 42.7 without tools and 64.7 vs 58.7 with tools, but the bigger point is that 5.4 Pro is already this competitive right now. So if GPT 5.4 Pro is already THIS COMPETITIVE here, then Spud Pro, the next OpenAI flagship, is guaranteed to beat Mythos. This chart makes OpenAI look extremely close before its next real jump, and once that next jump lands I do not think Mythos stays ahead.

Yesterday’s Mythos announcement from Anthropic was overblown. • Sandboxing was turned off, so test didn’t show much about the real world. • Cheap open-weight models can (already) do some similar stuff • No evidence that Mythos itself is a major qualitative jump. In short, we got played. cc @tomfriedman @RonanFarrow

From what I have gathered Mythos = GPT 5.4 Pro level in performance Anthropic is just really good at hyping stuff up They’re also compute poor and thus would rather hype up than release a model that they will have to nerf lol

Such a classic example of Christian cuckary hidden behind the faux tough guy act. When Afghan war began, Australia (nation of this coward lil savage) was ~70% ✝️. By the end, it was merely 43.9% while Taliban had *expanded* their pre-war territory. But sure, "CrUsADeR CroSS" 😭

@elerrantenomad Imagine a gang of thugs surrounding your house to kill you and your family. Your neighbors give them a room in each of their houses that overlook yours from where the thugs throw Molotov cocktails at you. Would you do nothing, since they are your 'friendly' neighbors?

I might be overly cynical but I've always assumed this stuff was total capeshit Every time there's some big new model release it's accompanied by these stories about how the model is so smart it jailbroke everything, programmed itself a robot body, had sex, started a family etc ALL WITHOUT ANY OF US NOTICING!! And it just gets goofier every time, and there's no way to verify any of it, and the more ridiculous you can make the story the better everyone assumes your model is There also appears to be zero upper limit to what the tech community will believe - they could quite literally say this thing used its robot body to seduce an asian girl from San Francisco and get her pregnant and many people would be like "Holy SHIT! This changes EVERYTHING!!! It's SO OVER"
Chubby♨️@kimmonismus

Let that sink in. Read it very carefully: During testing, Claude Mythos Preview broke out of a sandbox environment, built "a moderately sophisticated multi-step exploit" to gain internet access, and emailed a researcher while they were eating a sandwich in the park.

Claude Mythos. Ten trillion parameters: the first model in this weight class. Estimated training cost: ten billion dollars. On the hardest coding test in the industry (SWE bench) it scores 94%. It found a security flaw in a system that had been running for 27 years, one that every human engineer and every automated check had missed. It found another bug that had survived five million test runs over 16 years. (It did so overnight.) It is so capable in cybersecurity that Anthropic will not release it to the public, instead it is launching Project Glasswing along with 100m in compute credits to help secure software. Only twelve partners currently have access: Amazon, Cisco, Apple, Google, Microsoft, NVIDIA, JPMorgan Chase, Crowdstrike, Palo Alto, AWS, The Linux Foundation, Broadcom. (I'm sure the Pentagon is on the line?) This is not a product launch: it is a controlled deployment of a system too powerful to distribute freely. Tell me this isn't (very expensive) AGI?
Anthropic@AnthropicAI

Introducing Project Glasswing: an urgent initiative to help secure the world’s most critical software. It’s powered by our newest frontier model, Claude Mythos Preview, which can find software vulnerabilities better than all but the most skilled humans. anthropic.com/glasswing

What’s neat about being an American is, even in civilian life, if you’re ever in a place where the shit is *really* hitting the fan (e.g. a bad guy decides to take control of the army and turn the internet off in an entire country, roads are getting blocked, buildings on fire, food stores close down, commercial air travel stops) the U.S. government will aggressively help locate us and help us leave. They answer and won’t abandon you to your fate. When this happens and you’re saying good byes in the hotel lobby there’s always some forlorn French or South Africans just like “we can’t get ahold of anyone and have no idea what to do.” People who don’t constantly marvel at American greatness aren’t living in reality.
