Lima spoke against the bill.. Then, she said, “We can turn them into human compost, bury them in our gardens, and it’s going to give a whole new meaning to the word Granny Smith apple. I want to remember Grandma in the kitchen making an apple pie. I don’t want to be in the kitchen eating an apple pie, wondering if Grandma is part of the apple pie.” Lima, a Cranston Democrat, said the Catholic Church opposes the legislation, and she claimed that voting for it would send the message that “you view human remains as nothing more than any other form of garbage.”

See Ted Nesi's article below: Speaker Blazejewski shocked me today by committing to pass an Inspector General bill that I and others have been fighting to pass for years. I commend him for his courage. I was also SHOCKED that he gave me and others credit in trying to pass this for years. Something I am not use to from Speakers. He definitely has the potential to be receptive to all all points of view whether left or right. Now we have to convince the Speaker to change his stance on media interviews and call Tara, Matt and Dan and other media because despite his busy schedule the public has an absolute right to hear from the Speaker. If his committing to the IG bill is any indication of his future leadership he might actually be worth hearing regularly. We shall see.

Fantastic article by Ian Donnis about the stupidly of re-instituting truck tolls in Rhode Island. I voted against truck tolls from the beginning. It was a BAD idea then, WORSE idea now! I will always vote and fight against this awful burden on our truckers. Sell the gantries for scrap, that is the only financial benefit RI taxpayers will ever receive! Cut the $100 millions of waste and possible fraud in DOT if we really want to have money to fix our roads.
