@MattBruenig @theramblingfool @ersatzverite The constitution was set up to intentionally prevent the government from being able to pass laws quickly. The rationale of the founders is easily found, they wrote it down in works like the Federalist Papers. They knew how to build something "efficient", they didn't want it.

Anyway, unless you're a politics junky or the kind of person who subscribes to Higher Ed Dive or that kind of thing, you shouldn't even know who Harvard's president is, and it's a sign of media failure that it's such a big story.
