@FlissZak @KatrinaRotgalve I don’t really use it that much - in truth, I don’t really use any social media now as I once did with old Twitter. And while I do miss some elements, there’s also something quite liberating about it. I spend far less time on my phone than I used to, which has to be a good thing!

@CharlieCarroll1 @KatrinaRotgalve I do have an account but have sorta, kinda been ignoring it. I may give it a real go. How do you rate it? Say as compared to 'old' Twitter and then as compares with The Muskrat's aberation? It's mostly graphics, isn't it? Mind you, I've discovered a meme and GIF generator, so...

And a great, choice, sir. A favourite author and, as I keep saying, @CharlieCarroll1's book, 'The Lip' is up there in my top 3 faves, next to Good Omens (Sir Terry & Neil) and Pride & Prejudice. Amazon algorithms don't quite know what to make of my tastes! 🤣 #writers #bookshop

Let me introduce you to my good friend and supporter of my independent #bookshop Paul Taylor-McCartney, who visited me yesterday & brought in more #books from #HermitagePress He was a great customer too, chosen the 1st ed of #cornish author @CharlieCarroll1 'The Lip'. @FlissZak

@FlissZak @KatrinaRotgalve I’m a little more active on Instagram these days - are you on that? I thought about joining some of the others, but to be honest it all just sounds a bit knackering.

Happy publication day to me! Broken Biscuits and Other Male Failures, available now in all of the places you buy books. Please grab it from a book shop if you can. I don’t think I’d be publishing a second book without all the brilliant book seller support for my first one.

Funny, poignant, moving, @CatRentzenbrink’s second novel #OrdinaryTime is that rare thing: a profound page-turner. The insights into mental health (and, for me, men’s mental health especially) were extraordinary, filled with truth and compassion. Cheers, Cathy, I loved it.

When people talk about the genius of the Smiths, this is where my mind goes. Dear Ali and Zadie, thank you. Your books have genuinely made my life better.

@The_Lord_Otter It's that first line that grabs me. Get this 1st liner and opening paragraph from @CharlieCarroll1's amazing book, The Lip: 'If the cold made an impression on her, she did not show it. Nor the prospect of the drop. The tide was at its lowest. No water awaited her down there...'

I figured this was an appropriate question for my fellow writers and frens. When you start a book/movie/game, do you prefer an opening that hooks you into the action immediately, or is a slow burn better? It makes a water weasel wonder...
