22 Months ago Johnny Keefer played in his first Americas Tour event. Less than 12 months ago he earned his first Korn Ferry Tour win. On Thursday he will hit the opening shot at the Masters.

My struggle with the Korn Ferry socials. There were some great stories on the leaderboard. Gangdon and his unreal finish Mitch Meissner, who finished one spot short of getting his tour card last year and overcame the yips in college. They were so bad he switched to left handed and it saved his career. Jay Card, a former Opera singer who in 2024 DQ’d himself from Q-school after noticing a scoring error no one had noticed. Ian Gilligan, who survived childhood cancer at age 15. Cole Hammer, former all-American who has struggled at times as a pro but has had a great year. All of them (and more) were in contention. Today they have tweeted 3 times about the event. A putt from Gilligan on 2 A screenshot of the leaderboard when leaders were on 13. Then a graphic of saying Gangdon is the winner. No context of his unreal finish, no interviews with the players who were tied for the lead until Gangdon birdied the final three. Nothing about their journeys in golf. Hard to get people to care when this is the effort put in to marketing the amazing players and stories out there.

On today’s AGM we have two mini interviews with two guys who got thru Monday Qs. First Charlie Crockett, now coached my the legend Woody Austin, the Englishman dominated the Dakotas Tour last year. He talks about what he wants to learn this week Links ⬇️

Charlie Crockett just Monday Q’d for the @valerotxopen and is a great example of what Mondays are for. Super talented and dominated on the Dakotas Tour. Had a great career at U of Missouri. The kind of talent that can take advantage of an opportunity like this.

His first pga tour event, in his hometown, not far from the University of Florida, where he went to school. How cool is that? Hope the policy board sees cool stories like this as they make final decisions on the future of Monday Qs.

Tyler Wilkes and Luke Guthrie are the two Monday Qs for Valspar. Luke carries his college bag often in Monday Qs and one of the small reasons I love Monday Qs. Wilkes has played one KFT event and this will be his first Tour event.

Just an EGREGIOUS call Josh Allen throws an interception on 4th down, but the refs not only call it pass interference... they also call it a catch!? How can you say that the guy who caught the ball 1) didn't catch the ball and 2) didn't play the ball!?

The European Tour does developmental golf right. American pros would kill for a system like this. There are five mini-tours around Europe that have direct access to @HPlanner_Tour On those Tours the top three or five (depending on the tour) from each of the mini-tours order of merit earns status on the HP Tour the following season. On top of that each mini-tour has a three-win instant promotion. David Langley won three times on the Clutch Tour this year and this week is playing his first HP event and is currently inside the cut line. Another player on the Clutch Tour won for the third time last week and will be in the HP event next week. And not only that, those two players don’t count against the three cards the Clutch Tour gets at the end of the season. How good is that??? So this way guys can play on small mini-tours, save money, travel in a car, and still be playing for something. In the U.S. if you aren’t on KFT and can’t afford America’s Tour you have to play mini-tours and only have one chance (Q-school) a year to earn status. The European Tour model, imo, is great for the players (another pathway to earn status and huge cost savings), the HP tour (promotes the best players from mini-tours) and the mini-tour (players more likely to play more events and stay on one tour)

Hayden Buckley ended up being a All-American at Mizzou, but how he got there is pretty awesome. He didn't play well in some big junior events, so didn't really have many offers at all. Some junior colleges. His swing coach at the time Chris Harder, had played with Mark Leroux, the golf coach at Mizzou and called in a favor. Leroux gave Buckley a spot on the team without ever seeing him see a shot. His "scholarship" as a freshman was 1%, basically covered his book.

Talk about clutch. In his first summer as a pro, @charliecrock1 turns in the low round of the day with a 4-under 66 and is projected to move inside the top 80 of the points list — retaining his @PGATOURAmericas status for 2025.

Back-to-back 65s has @CharlieCrock1 sitting T2 at 14-under in Winnipeg at the @ManitobaOpen 👌
