@fc_mossman How long was Amorim in charge? Give Carrick time and a functional squad and he’ll deliver 10x what Amorim did. The worst coach in our history. Ruben finished 15th (Fifteenth), that stat simply overshadows ever other stat.

Some observations about Manchester United's underlying data this season under Ruben Amorim and under Michael Carrick: - Amorim's United were better by almost every measure except results - its known Amorim had a better xG differential, but there's a response I'm seeing that his xG is inflated by trailing game states, which is incorrect; in neutral scorelines (the match is tied), Amorim and Carrick have nearly the same xG differential per match... Carrick's Utd are producing more xG, while Amorim's were conceding less - even non-xG or xT events like high turnovers forced/conceded and deep entries forced/conceded all favor Amorim's Utd If through the traditional data analysis lens Amorim's Utd looks better, the question flow becomes: Do I care about the underlying data? - If no, thanks for reading this far, my account and this post probably aren't for you, feel free to quote this calling me a nerd or leave a reply like "I ain't reading all that"... it helps with the algorithm :) Are there other data angles where Carrick's United does look better than Amorim's, and if so, are they also reasons why other successful teams are successful? - Still here? Awesome. If there are alternative angles I'm not considering, I'd love to think through them. That said, if they need to be scalable to other situations, otherwise it doesn't really matter if they're driving United's current results, because like the goals to xG differential, its not sustainable. Are there non-data reasons for the results disparity? - Absolutely, and it would be stupid to not consider these. Carrick clearly has a management style that better suits the club and the squad mentality, among other things. The confidence of the players/general vibe of the club could very well be the difference between the quality of result. I don't believe this to be true, but I would not rule it out, or at least it being one of several contributing factors. But if you believe this to be the case, you need to then think through: Will the good vibes last forever? - Eventually something has to give - either the underlying data catches up to the on-pitch results, or the on-pitch results drop to meet the data. Feel free to think through which is more likely, and how that will impact the vibes. Perhaps this is as simple as Amorim was the manager United needed to right the ship, and now Carrick is the manager United needs to maximize results. There are arguments for and against United sacking Amorim, as well as making Carrick's appointment permanent - I'm not here to persuade you one way or the other, what you choose to do with the facts I've presented and the other facts you've digested + your relationship with your emotions is your business. Thanks for reading!

@WG_RumblePants Personally love the passion. In that environment, with that crowd, go celebrate that wicket. Possibly won them the game.

⚽️West Ham — MUFC I take Carrick over any 3-4-2-1 manager or any pragmatic manger, for that matter. But today, I have some issues with his work. 🔺I do not get the obsession with having a left foot at LW against a deep team. There is nothing wrong with crossing from where Mbuemo did on Sesko’s goal. A left foot on the right side. Mbuemo and Diallo did absolutely nothing at LW. They aren’t used to play there. Why are they playing there? I dont get it. Bruno at 9, Cunha at 10 and Diallo/Mbuemo at LW worked very very poorly. 🔺We in no way, shape or form — utilizing Diallo at RW. He is alone there. Miles to the closest player. Dalot is not making inverting runs nor overlapping runs. At least when Mbuemo plays at No 9, he can at times move out to the right to overload with Diallo with Bruno/Cunha rotating to the striker position. Diallo is our best weapon against a low defense. Completely wasted. 🔺The worst part of our play today — cannot be put on Carrick per se. Because ETH had big issues despite focusing a lot on it for years and so did Amorim. But our decision making on the ball was awful, and we really fell into the same bad habits that we developed under Ole. We made West Ham look like a much better team than what they actually are. To control a game like this, you must be methodical and disciplined. If you are, you can really suffocate a team like West Ham We are the opposite. ❌What did we do wrong? A classic example is Bruno in the midfield to the left trying to make a North-south/vertical pass to a player running towards the right far post. (a) It is a low percentage play. (b) If you connect with the pass, you get a scoring chance. (c) If you miss the pass — 100% of the time it will go to a goal kick or the GK. ✅The alternative is to be more patient and manage possession of the ball until you for example can make a cross when you are higher up the pitch. (a) Yes, it is also a low percentage play. (b) But if you connect, you also get a scoring chance. (c) However — if you miss with the cross — you basically have a 50% chance of winning a second ball. The first 15 minutes — I counted 6 low percentage passes in a row, that could have created a scoring chance, but if missed 100% resulted in lost possession. Playing this way — is a dream for West Ham. Creating a ping pong game. You could see how they loved it. Like I said — I am not pinning this on Carrick. That would be pure guess work. But these are the things managers like Pep, Arteta — but also Klopp — has developed so much on while more traditional managers (90/00s era PL players) are miles behind. So it scares me a lot when we revert back to playing the worst type of football we saw under ETH in 22/23 after only a few games of Carrick. 🔺The players had way too much freedom offensively overall. We need to be — much — more structured. Bruno was very problematic. Nobody admires Bruno more than me. He is as tough as any United player I’ve ever seen, and I’ve followed this team since the earlier half of the 90s. But he does not always play effective football. He must be controlled. Held back. There is a time for his creativity — and there are times when he must hold it back a lot more. Cunha was also fairly wasteful today. 🔺For once, we didn’t have a full week of rest before a game. I know that there was many with me who wanted to see several changes to the starting XI. And there was a reason for it. We weren’t even remotely as sharp as in the last 4 games. WH wanted it more. Very few players on this squad is up for playing a game with only a few days of rest before it. Dalot played with his head under his arm again. Maguire was rusty. Shaw looked ancient. Mbuemo’s first touch hasn’t been perfect for a couple of weeks now. The conditions we had today — are the same as Villa, Newcastle, Tottenham and co have had every single game since September. We would 100% be bottom 5 with Tottenham if we played in Europe with the squad we have this year. 100%.

⏹️ 𝗙𝗧: 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗛𝗮𝗺 𝟭-𝟭 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 United rescue a point late in the capital. West Ham struck early in the second half through Soucek after capitalising on a defensive error. United pushed for a response, going close through Zirkzee late on, before Benjamin Šeško levelled it deep into injury time to earn a draw. 🔴⚽️ #WHUMUN | #MUFC

Bangladeshis are such losers. The other two teams in their group are very competitive in SL & AFG . This group most likely decided by NRR . AFG already got a huge win . Have to chase this target very quickly. Lads casually going about 7 an over . Never change lads #AsiaCup2025

@SwedishRumble @FortuneFpl If it’s allowed why are the likes of Newcastle’s owners (some of the wealthiest people on the planet) not just pumping cash in via this method and stopping the requirement to sell players under PSR rules last summer. Any money raised does not count as revenue under PSR

If you want to support Mancehster United and the signing of Carlos Baleba -- sign up to MUTV. For an official Club TV channel it is very good. Also very cheap right now, just €9.99 for a year. Think it was €69 for a year before the start of preseason. manutd.com/en/mutv/subscr…

Sky cricket’s product is exceptional. You can say what you want about the Free To Air debate but you cannot argue that the package produced, the pundits used and the analysis they offer is not the best in all of sport. A top tier team.
