Angela Rayner is ready to launch a leadership bid, positioning herself as a unity candidate. Her team hopes to turn it into a three-horse race between Streeting, Burnham, and herself.

I’m told there will be a cabinet resignation tomorrow at 11:30, with either Wes Streeting or Bridget Phillipson expected to step down.

As many have pointed out, this is not a "safe Labour seat," and the Green Party would likely win it. I’m not sure yet whether Burnham wants to stand here or would prefer to contest a seat in Manchester, where he enjoys greater popularity. Gorton and Denton all over again? Who knows?

I am reliably informed that Clive Lewis will resign his seat to allow Andy Burnham a return to Westminster. The MP for Norwich spoke with Burnham this evening, following Angela Rayner’s statement. It remains unclear whether the Manchester Mayor would wish to stand in Norwich. Further updates on this are expected over the course of the week.

The same Midlands Labour MP who told me on 19 April, "If he [Keir Starmer] doesn’t go himself, then myself and others will be prepared to force a vote of no confidence," has said the following regarding Catherine West: "West will do very well in her leadership challenge. The majority of the PLP are prepared to support anyone who tries to get Starmer out, and she is the only one publicly challenging him for the leadership."

Rupert Lowe’s Great Yarmouth First party has received 15,610 votes across Great Yarmouth in the county council elections, whereas Reform UK has received 6,637 votes.

Since 2:00 PM, it’s gone from expecting to lose 4 to now expecting to lose 9–12. Interesting….

Labour source: "We expect to lose at least 4 MPs from the parliamentary party today."

According to my sources, at least nine Labour MPs will vote tonight in favour of referring Starmer to the Privileges Committee, with a considerable number expected to abstain. Labour are actively pressuring MPs via group chats to vote against the referral and reminding them that the vote is whipped.
