@DjRichC1983 Interesting! Do you recap the structural theories in that 7 weeks too or is it purely social action theories? Do you cover the debates too so is sociology a science? The relationship between social policy and sociology? In the 7 weeks or is that separate?

@Charliebelmore Intro to theory is taught after core themes, takes 4 weeks, Marxism and postmodernism take longer than the others. Advanced social theory is taught after the AS exam, takes 7 weeks, social action theory is hard!

@MissCatnach I teach it at the start of year 12 too, (we don't AS either) more just the theory and debates side of the course! Just thinking about shifting the planning and playing with the course order

@Charliebelmore Do you mean the whole of theory and methods for year 1 and year 2? I teach it all at the start of y12 (we don't do AS) and it takes a long time... I've voted 26+, I'm not sure exactly.

@Charliebelmore New Media has come up every year. I’ve found my students find the Glob and Pop Culture topic tough. Media theories (Ma, Neo, Pluralism, PoMo, Neophiliacs & Cultural Pessimists) came up as a 20 marker and threw most students so that’s one to explicitly teach. Hope this helps! ☺️

@stupotwakefield I like to think my media consumption has moved beyond 2000s but I know I'll never be brave or 'down with the kids' enough to install or keep up with the likes of tiktok.

So sad to see the state of what our education system had become - students wearing coats, teachers too nervous to put on the lights, heating not going on and no additional funding given 😔 hopefully the message gets through that there's nothing else we can cut!
