As a club, we are heartbroken to announce the passing of John ‘Parky’ Parkinson, who has been with Tarleton Corinthians from boyhood as a player, manager, treasurer and groundsman, and without whom the club certainly wouldn’t be the club it is today. (1/4)

First team lose 7-1 v @CharnockFC Res. Some poor spells but with a team that started with 4 16 year olds they will learn from it. First goal in senior football for another 16 yr old Preston Gaitskell who looked lively when he came on. #vls

An important reminder for parents and coaches 🗣️⚽️ Football can be a tough journey for young players. The pressure to perform, compete, and impress can sometimes feel overwhelming. In today’s world—especially with the added spotlight of social media—many children grow up believing that not winning means they aren’t “good enough.” When you add the stress of trials, contracts, and holding down a place in a team, it makes understanding and supporting children’s emotions more vital than ever. Through my own journey, I’ve realised how important it is not only to reflect on my own emotions, but also to truly support the emotional well-being of the kids I work with. In the Foundation Development Phase (U7–U11), the focus should always be on helping children grow as footballers and as people—making sure they feel valued, safe, and comfortable being themselves. This photo is one example of many, where I had a young player feeling the full weight of defeat. Losing is never easy, but in those moments it matters most to show them they are valued far beyond the result on the scoreboard. So my message to every parent and coach is simple: 💡 Remind our young players how brilliant they are—win, lose, or draw. If they give their best effort and show good character, they’ll make us proud for years to come. 😁 — Credit Coach Liam, Liam Davies Coaching #grassrootsfootball #TeamGrassroots #GRF
