depends on the kind of code you're writing. if you're writing the kind of CRUD that ex-frontend devs write before coming online to tell everyone backend is easier than frontend, you'll probably feel like Einstein. if you're implementing a high-performance distributed state machine with strong invariant guarantees, everyone feels dumb at that point.

Software engineer is solved in the same way that accounting is: Most people still don't want to do it. It doesn't matter how "solved" it is, you still need to ask a specific professional to do it.

Software engineering really changed my mentality on life. Most importantly it has taught me to always build for failure. It has taught me to anticipate problems even when I have done everything right. It has taught me that stability is founded on structure.

A wrap for Game Jam's Night of Code. Live support & immediate feedback from Team1 Africa. The highlight of the night was how quickly builders learned/adapted & leaned on each other's forte. Gamified solutions were executed for sure. The most lively cohort yet.

Open sourcing your work is not generosity. It is the acknowledgment that the problem you are solving is larger than your company, and that the solution will only reach the people who need it most if other people can build on it without asking your permission.

@jbarbier Just like the skill of rssearch was lost because of google, we might keep recycling past knowledge & not come up with new ways to seal current & upcoming gaps.

@jbarbier I used them & got past the stage of getting excited about them. My inclination now is to use them less. I realize the skill of system thinking is embedded in choosing to do it the hard way.

It's baffling how many software engineers are still in denial about LLMs and aren't using them for coding.
