@emreadsthebooks Yes, I refute the label completely. I’m a book lover first, and then I’m a book reviewer and book blogger. I wouldn’t want to ‘influence’ anyone. Monsters? Yes. I think there are people who love themselves and …….people who love books!

@Chedgee God, yeah, don't get me started, people have said to me I am and I disagreed hard, I like to chat books and I'll tell people if they will love a book, I don't think a book suits everyone I think there is a personality type where a monster breeds from it too

@emreadsthebooks I agree completely. And I think the rot started to set in when the term “influencer“ entered the mix. Words can be so powerful, and this one added further to the exaggerated sense of importance some people have.

@Chedgee No, I won't but I do get annoyed how many people are falling for it and it's quite bad in certain aspects, I can't believe the audacity sometimes It is, it's very shallow and people who want to get ahead are sometimes the worst for it

@emreadsthebooks Yes! Most definitely. I won’t waste energy getting annoyed about them any more! I think at some point their bubbles will burst. It’s a shallow, fickle business, social media.

@Chedgee Oh boy, doesn't it!! I've seen it myself and god... I could tell a few things and also the two faced side of it, like I've seen what people are playing at to 'get ahead' and it's revealing quite honestly

@Chedgee interaction) it's not why I came to join in, it's not 'real' it's an illusion and not what books should really be about for me so it doesn't suit me (also the follow trains, it's not real!!) From what I saw on threads about insta, it's not for me, though I'd love some aspects

@emreadsthebooks The whole numbers things really annoys me. Because now many publishers want to know your follower count before they’ll consider sending a proof or an arc. Critical, perceptive reviews aren’t wanted it seems. Pretty pictures and pretty videos seem to be what’s required.
