This from my sister Juliet about lessons from last night’s England men’s defeat. She has a point. “Also the positive thing England men's football could do is to consult with women at all levels and in all positions and in more team sports than football, to find out how they win and continue to win. There is of course the Lionesses, but also the England rugby girls who never get beaten and of course they could talk to Tamsin Greenway.
The other people they could also talk to, look into what they do, are those involved in Australian team sport. They have the winning formula in just about everything.”

@BygoneBritain My older brother convinced me that he had done a backwards fart by stuffing two sponge tennis balls down his y-fronts.

@PolitlcsUK To be fair, he hasn’t got the face that you uncontrollably feel the need to punch, so there is that

Apropos of nothing in particular, a young Diego Maradona looks out over Hope St, Glasgow, in June 1979 - he scored his first international goal later that day at Hampden in a 3-1 victory.

@FDCLDN @Lordmiles Nah mate, you got this one all wrong.
Use them for the hard graft and do the little jobs yourself.

@Lordmiles I got loads of little jobs that need doing, a slave would be handy, plus you can beat them when you’re stressed out

@NoContextBrits Nearly had my head knocked off by one of those back in the day.
Flush impact to the side of the head from a goal kick.
I was standing about 6ft in front of the goalie at the time.
That gave my head a wobble, for sure.😵💫
