Lots of positives to take away. Ibanez fantastic - should there be a platoon with McNeil? Rooker and Kurtz need to move further down in the lineup. While the bullpen held them scoreless they sure were shaky with tons of walks and pitching from behind way too much. But a win is a win.

Show up. Be loud. Let’s celebrate together.
DON’T MISS IT!!!!!
@lasvegasaspod@StraightAs123 Just listened to your show. Really good takes. The hitting will come around eventually once we settle down and not try to hit every pitch 500 feet. The pitching idk. I see inconsistency the entire year.
@lasvegasaspod@StraightAs123 Haven’t listen yet but blow up the batting order. Enough of Kurtz leading off. Get some contact guys like Wilson and McNeil in the top of the order. Today.

The panic has started… but should it?
The A’s are 0–4 and the overreactions are already flying.
In this brand-new episode of When Stats Meet Instincts, Sam @StraightAs123 separates what’s actually broken from what’s just early-season noise.
Cold offense, bullpen usage, rotation concerns, and why fans might be blaming the wrong people.

This isn’t a rant — it’s the reality check. One of the best shows you will hear or watch.
@ChefDub30 He just didn't have many competitive misses. It felt like almost every AB in that first inning had him missing the zone by at least a foot. Not sustainable.
Jacob Lopez has had a rocky start, mostly as a result of noticeable lack of command, but he's also produced soft and unlucky contact. Four of his five hits allowed:
81.9 mph RBI double
61.2 mph RBI single
53.3 mph single
71.2 mph single
Only one hit above 82 mph.

A’s will lose today to drop to 0-5, but then tomorrow they will score 8 runs off Chris Sale. The team will reveal that this was a big April Fool’s joke and will win 30 games in a row.
We are chillin, A’s fans!
Mark Kotsay when asked about the slow start to this season:
“When you go through these stretches in the middle of the year, people aren’t talking about the team and your lack of success.”
He looks and sounds pretty frustrated.

@AthleticsRants Other than Butler and Sodi I’ve seen no one trying to hit to the opposite field. Hit it where it’s pitched. Wilson rolling over ground ball double plays, everyone swinging at balls in the dirt, trying to hit HRs instead of putting it in play.
Who’s the most famous person you’ve ever spoken to?
Not “seen from far away” — actually talked to, even for a minute.
A quick hello, a handshake, a normal conversation… and you still remember it.
Who was it?
@AthleticsRants Fine. But now we’re really suffering. No Miller and Erceg are going to cost us 20 wins this season alone. Imagine what we’d look like TODAY with those two. Throw in Trienen too.
Great perspective on Mason Miller trade:
The wins that the A’s are missing out on by not having Mason Miller in 2026 will be made up for in 2028 when Leo De Vries, Braden Nett, and Henry Baez should be apart of the major league roster.
Nothing is guaranteed, of course, but the plan is in place to have a damn good, World Series contending team when the stadium opens in Vegas in 2028.
@AthleticsRants Everyone trying to pull every pitch. Wilson rolling over into two double plays, swinging at bad pitches, just put the ball in play. Go to the opposite field. Play smarter. Geez.
I get that the A’s offense scored 7 runs today, but most of it came on three flukey infield hits and a grand slam from the only guy hitting the ball so far.
Not a 7 run performance that makes me feel great.
We all know about the strikeouts too.
How much time are you willing to give Denzel Clarke at the bottom of the A’s lineup before calling up one of our high upside OF in AAA like Henry Bolte?
Denzel Clarke’s defensive presence is unmatched, but how long will the A’s be willing to keep his unreliable bat in the order before pulling the plug is the question?
🚨 OVERREACTION TIME 🚨
After two games this season, the A's are winless and have been walked off twice.
How are you feeling, A's fans? Worried for the weeks ahead? Panicking already? Ready to point fingers? Calling for heads?
Let it all out. This is a safe space.

A’s offense will pull it together. This lineup is too young and good to keep playing possum. Learn from facing two elite pitchers in Kevin Gausman and Dylan Cease.
