4,400 homes. 20,000 new daily car trips. FAILED intersections. The city’s own traffic and safety reports for the proposed Fairview Developmental Center project are out, and the numbers are deeply concerning. We are talking about: Gridlock: Over 20,000 new daily car trips, causing the intersections at Harbor & Fair and Victoria & Placentia to drop below city standards. The report states there is no feasible physical room to widen the streets to fix this. Safety Hazards: The Fire Marshal has warned that this level of congestion will directly lead to increased emergency response times when every second counts. As someone who has spent over a decade in master-planned community development and currently serves as a county Planning Commissioner, I know what smart, sustainable growth looks like. This current plan is not it. We aren't against growth, but we must demand development that is safe, realistic, and respects the infrastructure of our community. 🗣️ HOW YOU CAN TAKE ACTION: We need to show up and speak up at the city's upcoming Town Hall on June 23rd. But to make an impact, we have to communicate our concerns in a way that city officials cannot ignore. Prep & Strategy Session: July 22nd (I am hosting an event to help train and prepare you on how to effectively speak to city staff). The Town Hall: July 23rd. 👇 Comment or DM the words "SAVE COSTA MESA" right now, and I will send you all the details for our July 22nd prep event. Let’s make our voices heard!

He puts it in broad terms like this to avoid the real problem: the cost of building. It’s not “the system” per se, for which he is the ultimate ceo, it’s the rampant overspending of money that doesn’t go back into the state. It’s siphoned out by a select few and the value of money goes down, making everything more expensive. The end goal of putting tax dollars towards public goods is to create a more efficient and productive economy from which we all benefit. That hasn’t happened.

Gavin Newsom blames the State of California — of which he is the Governor — for his housing crisis: NEWSOM: “We designed a system, a machine, over the last half century to make it more difficult to build. It was intentionally designed...not to build."

We still don’t know what product is causing this outbreak, however, given the fact we have seen so many cases in Michigan, it leads me to believe it’s a large foodservice product because Michigan is a central distribution hub. We’ve also seen it across various states so it’s not an isolated variety of local produce. I’m guessing bagged lettuce. If you want to play it safe cook all your produce at this point and don’t eat bagged lettuce mix.

Just came across this old recipe. Think I’ll make this for an episode. Maybe I’ll bread it and fry crispy with some braised short rib.

@ChefGruel What about the rights of people who were forced to live next to the camps? I do not care where they go. It has to be some secured area, and they should be placed there , regardless of their wishes. People cannot live on the streets. Period!

We are going to post back and forth about homelessness for years with no progress unless there is a bold position taken. I suggest setting up a massive shelter with full care outside Los Angeles, perhaps in a remote area. If people can't prove they have a place to stay and end up in the same spot twice, they go to this shelter for care and rehab. I know people will complain about their rights, but we aren't respecting the rights of anyone by letting them sleep in their own feces and do drugs on the streets. Laws are being broken; it's that simple. Take them in and transport them out of the city into a shelter or jail. These aren't people who have fallen on tough times. There are enough resources for those people. These are people who need medication and care. 15 billion has been spent in 10 years to fix this, and it's only gotten worse. Time for a new strategy.

If anybody wants to look for the model of how to help and how the homeless population you need to look no further than Huntington Beach California. Right on Beach Boulevard. They have a giant white semi permanent facility that help Helps and houses the homeless population of Huntington Beach. If you ever wonder why you don’t see many homeless on the street this is because they handle it in such a dignified and quick manner to take people off the street and put them in a shelter and get them the services they need.
