You dont need Shopify. At all. In the end, the customer nor the browser engines don't care what tool is used in the backend as long as the code is clean. But Shopify does save a lot of unnecessary mental bandwidth. It’s cleaner, more plug and play, and most integrations you’ll ever need are already available without too much drama. It’s also easier to teach staff because many people have already worked on the Shopify backend before. Plus, they are always on the edge of ecommerce innovation, which is honesty kind of fun for me. Use whatever platform you are comfortable with. All that matters is product and marketing.

Nothing personal but this is the stupid copium that has been sold to anyone wanting to sell online in India. For the zillionth time - you don't need Shopify. Being on Shopify doesn't '5x' your revenue. Working on your product and marketing grows your business. Yeah you can do some CRO on Shopify easier, but that comes way down your list of priorities. Because such 'advice' has spread - thousands of small businesses are wasting money on a foreign platform which is only after increasing your recurring expenditure while contributing precisely 0 to actual growth.

@saybwala @ilanvasanthi But your revenue will 5x if you switched to shopify and make a clean website

Really worried how Instagram pages / ad accounts etc can get banned on meta now. If this is related to using automated services then at our scale, there is absolutely no way to not use AI services for replying to queries.

This is truly terrible that a business at their spend level doesn't have a POC to reach out to at Meta India. These silicon valley companies have really gotten away with having no skin in the game in India. It's our shambolic governance that has led to this situation. Businesses don't even have a way to reclaim the TDS deduction from these companies. Time someone took them to court.
Ganesh Sonawane@ganeshsonawane

Extremely shocked right now! Our @frido_official Instagram account has been blocked, and Meta POCs have said it may take up to 48 hours to restore. Can someone senior at Meta please look into this urgently??!! 🤯🤯

What the heck! If a brand like Frido, one of the biggest Meta ad spenders in India, can get blocked on Instagram by Meta’s broken AI system, how is any small brand supposed to feel safe? Brands spend crores in money, time and effort building audiences on these platforms, only to be locked out for no clear reason and with no proper support. Hope the account is restored soon, and someone at Meta actually looks into this. This is a terrible way to treat businesses that are literally funding your platform.

Not because of Spur automations. All automations via meta verified tools like Spur are approved by meta. We even have a 6 month compliance check from Meta. If you’re not using Spur, ask your provider if their app is verified by Meta or not. Also remove any chrome extensions that you might be using for Instagram stuff. Most chrome extensions for Instagram automations/scraping are unauthorised.

A lot of insta accounts are getting banned. One reason I came to know is this bot automation accounts. Which for engagement they ask the users to comment "link" to dm. This according to them is not allowed while using third party apps.

People are often so unaware of the vast expanse that is Hinduism. A Hindu can be a yogi, a theist, an agnostic, or even an atheist. He can just sit at home, close his eyes, and remember the One that he loves. And just like that, he is as religious as any other Hindu. There has not yet been a religion on this planet so vast, so varied, and so inclusive. It even accommodates rebels who deviate from the norm with the spirit of discovery and exploration. After all, spirituality (of which all religions are a subset imo) is the ruleset of nature meant to help you achieve absolute freedom. How paradoxical and beautiful.

STORY | Hinduism way of life, not mandatory to go to temple to prove belief: SC Observing that Hinduism is a way of life, the Supreme Court on Wednesday said it is not necessary for a Hindu to mandatorily go to a temple or perform a ritual in order to remain a Hindu, and even lighting a lamp inside the house is enough to prove one's belief. The observation of a nine-judge constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant came while hearing petitions related to discrimination against women at religious places, including the Sabarimala temple in Kerala, and on the ambit of religious freedom practised by multiple faiths, including Dawoodi Bohras. Justices B V Nagarathna, M M Sundresh, Ahsanuddin Amanullah, Aravind Kumar, Augustine George Masih, Prasanna B Varale, R Mahadevan and Joymalya Bagchi are also part of the nine-judge bench. Indian milk ice cream is the world's best. Swiss ice creams come close, but you can't get the taste of Indian milk ice cream. In India, "ice cream" means it is made of 100% milk and not hydrogenated vegetable fats like many other countries. IMO, the best Indian ice creams are the ones made with natural fruit, nuts, and milk. But Indian ice creams brands are being bought by foreign investors and companies. This is happening for all products and startups where India excels. Instead of Indian brands expanding and competing world wide, they sell out. The foreign buyer generally never takes the Indian brand international, instead makes it worse, or shuts it down. This can only be stopped by GoI.

If 56 MLAs can rally behind KC because he brought funding of around ₹1 crore each, the obvious question is: are we saying a state assembly like Kerala can be bought for just ₹150–200 crore?

Good luck getting Priyanka or Rahul reelected from Wayanad at this point. This may yet pass, but more likely the dynasty is on its last legs in Kerala, the last state where it still has some glamour and sway. Imposing the Prince’s peon on the people will have consequences.
Athul M Nair@athulmnair1

When Nadapuram MLA KM Abhijith attended a wedding , people surrounded him and questioned why he supported KC for the CM post. He escaped saying it was an AI photo🤣 At this rate, the winning MLAs might find it difficult to even walk freely in their own constituencies🥲

I hope Vijay (and Stalin) keep both national parties at distance. And cherish the precious Tamil inheritance of political autonomy. INC betraying DMK which was extremely generous towards it, was just dishonorable. How BJP remote controls AIADMK is dishonorable.

I have done both so m compelled to write a detailed answer to this, plus it’s a Sunday. This might get too detailed, so sorry for that too. Which is harder? Well, it depends. If you are interested to sell online and love the game, you can actually start doing it in one day. Take Shopify, put your products, start running ads. I get it that running ads is the hardest, cos there is no actual course that teaches you how to do this. People who actually know it, know that it’s actually very simple. I myself got trained by people on twitter spaces. I have sent flowers to women, begged people, done everything possible to learn it. This is just one person job. For me, d2c is easier cos I don’t have to depend on other people to run ads. Manufacturing is different. You need to work with labour, and they can be difficult to work with if you are not from that background. I wasn’t. Both me and Sameer learned everything practically, step by step. We had two strikes in the first six months. It was hilarious cos we only had 5 tailors. They said if you don’t give our contractor extra advance 50k rupees, we won’t work. We didn’t know if we gave him money, will he turn up tmrw. Second strike happened cos they knew we were under pressure and the finishing contractor tripled his price, two days before date of delivery. Both me and Sameer have ironed and packed clothes, multiple times. If you have already established scale on d2c, you can look at manufacturing but if you don’t have that background o won’t suggest it, cos it’s not worth it fighting with workers and handling them day in and day out. It will absolutely drain you. Sameer handles this now and he has managers to help him do it. Go from d2c to manufacturing, if you can hire enough staff and contractors to not deal with workers, yourself or have a team member who only handles manufacturing. Some points on manufacturing to d2c, manufacturers lose be use they always try to sell cheap. No money spent on photo shoots, no willingness to spend on marketing. They feel they can make at 299 and thus win the market by selling at 349, cos market leader is selling at 499. They never win. You need to understand marketing, branding, communication, operations etc etc. Ideally manufacturers and marketing people should work together to start up, than trying to handle both things.
Prakash Dadlani@prakdadlani

Which is harder? A D2C importer/trader getting into manufacturing OR A traditional manufacturer getting into D2C? This is one of the most common crossroads in Indian business right now. Which transition do you think is tougher, and why? Drop your opinion below. 👇
