@ChemistryNathan@ReynePullen@Townsresearch Tasmania is Garden. This is related to the vivillon event. If your kids are working on the different butterflies, I'm currently in the archipelago region, but will be back to modern next week, so they should make sure to pin and open gifts for the next few days.
@ReynePullen@ChemistryNathan@Townsresearch I still play - my code is 4030 1580 3904. If anyone in the Sun, Icy Snow, Tundra, or Sandstorm regions plays, please send me a friend request as well. 😀
I am sometimes so frustrated and stressed about deadlines, but then… during summer, when I have more time, I can’t finish to-dos on my list. Is there anyone here that feels the same?
@happayscraps So sorry to hear that - very disappointing and I'll miss seeing you too. That happened to me for my first conference of summer, and it's incredibly frustrating.
In preparing to leave for BCCE I took a COVID test. It was positive and so were the tests for my husband and children. We have all had cold-like symptoms or allergies. So much for going to the BCCE. Have fun and stay safe out there.
@katyhosbeinCER@geriannetobbe It's definitely worth it to buy the soft PhD tam (although I got a four-sided tam instead of an eight-sided - just my preference)
@geriannetobbe Yeah, like ours were boring and they only had different colored tassels but no fancy caps. Is it normal to buy fancy ones outside of normal ones?!
@shawchem Very much agree - we had one recently we submitted Dec 9 and got a desk reject on Jan 23. No explanation for why it took so long - even worse was making us make a bunch of nitpicky formatting changes up front and then rejecting it without review
@leslie_bolda@STEMxicanEd The talk outline should have 2-4 big ideas that you want your audience to learn (preferably with an image that will appear in that section) rather than a list of the components of the talk.
@leslie_bolda@STEMxicanEd I'm a fan of the assertion evidence approach (assertion-evidence.com). UI has brought Melissa Marshall to campus several times, and a colleague and I regularly do a session with our grad students on this style of presentation.
