Our work on two novel Fe(-II) complexes is online. While most TM carbonyl anions with negative oxidation states are inert toward low polar substrates (e.g., H2, PhSiH3), our systems can activate them assisted by a pendant BBN group. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…

A fun detour from main-group and TM chemistry! It unexpectedly led us into supramolecular coordination assembly. By changing only the metal ion, tritopic phosphine forms Cu3/Ni3 cages or macrocycle-containing Zn4 1D chain. Controllable topology:-) sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Really proud to share our latest achievements in carbene-ring-opening chemistry! A rapid & scalable route to azetidine-based methyleneketenimines unlocks multimodal reactivity. Now online in @angew_chem . Proud of this one. Huge shoutout to Keisuke! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/an…

A 3-year postdoc job @UoBChemistry open for application! As experienced synthetic organometallic chemist, you may think Na and Li are not exciting. But you are wrong - here is an opportunity to do some genuinely "crazy" group-1 metal chemistry! edzz.fa.em3.oraclecloud.com/hcmUI/Candidat…

MOLECULAR ZINTL PHASES with tetra-anionic Si, Ge, Sn, Pb accessible using soluble Mg(0). Although all E(4-) anions are full valence-shell octets, they are highly reactive. The Sn(-IV) complex is an 8e-reductant @FAU shorturl.at/InmD6 @NatureSynthesis

Aluminum: lightest p-block metal with very low electronegativity. Converting Al(III) to Al(I) in stoichiometric reactions is rare. But now, we've made Al redox catalysis a reality! Check it out @nature nature.com/articles/s4158…

Our team has isolated a metal-free crystalline isodiazomethyl anion, a key carbon/nitrogen motif long absent in synthetic chemistry. Dive into our Nature Synthesis paper for all the details. Congrats to Hongyu and Jiancheng! nature.com/articles/s4416…

Very excited to see this in print in JACS. Here, we take a step closer to true cut and paste chemistry with our 100% atom efficient transposition reaction using chalcones as substrates. Congrats to Carlos, Jon, and the rest of the team! pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja…

Just published in @J_A_C_S! Visible-light-driven Ga(I)/Ga(III) redox enables a rare (4+1+1) photocycloaddition to build phenylenediamine frameworks. Huge credit to Nijito! pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja…

Our work on Carbocation-Coupled Electron Transfer (CCCET) is now in Inorg Chem. An α-ferrocenylmethylium isn’t just a carbocation—it’s a masked primary alkyl radical that couples with radicals, adds across π-bonds, and C–H-activates heterocycles. New radical route to C–X bonds.
