@christenesmith @CIC_ChemInst @DaltonTrans @cscinorgdiv @degruyter_phys However, the cationic complex shows the high affinity to particularly MMA, and -CH2Si(CH3)3 group in the cationic complex is not nucleophilic enough to initiate MMA, hindering further insertion of MMA.

@christenesmith @CIC_ChemInst @DaltonTrans @cscinorgdiv @degruyter_phys Thus, in this work, the neutral complex is found to be a more appropriate catalyst for copolymerization of MMA and lactide.

@marcuswdrover @CIC_ChemInst @DaltonTrans @cscinorgdiv @degruyter_phys This work shows an unprecedented application of indium complexes, enabling new synthetic pathway to PMMA-b-PLA, which has not been achieved by other metal complexes. The study to understand the reactivity of indium complexes in detail is ongoing.

@Chem_Joon @CIC_ChemInst @DaltonTrans @cscinorgdiv @degruyter_phys What do you think is special about this Indium catalyst that renders the statements made in your conclusion feasible? e.g., why is it the first example that is capable of homo- and co-polymerization of said monomers?

@marcuswdrover @CIC_ChemInst @DaltonTrans @cscinorgdiv @degruyter_phys Although indium has high functional group tolerance and Lewis acidic nature, making indium complexes potential catalysts for many reactions, cationic indium complexes have been rarely explored in catalysis.
