I know that @caffeineai is the news of the day but have you heard that - ICP storage layer improvements reduce checkpointing times by 50x - on-chain encryption is now available with a pre-prod key on ICP mainnet - the Solana RPC canister is ready for testing on mainnet and will complete ICP/Solana integration - onesec.to will enable super fast fully decentralized bridging between ICP and Ethereum and L2s - liquidium.fi will enable cross-chain lending between Bitcoin and Solana, built on ICP - kongswap.io will enable native Solana/ICP swaps - yusan.fi will enable lending/borrowing on ICP and later cross-chain - Oisy Earn will enable user-friendly in-wallet yield from different chains … and we’re only just getting started.

Ahoy ICPeople! ♾👋 Just a quick note to share that @DFINITY and I have officially parted ways. As much as I loved every minute of my journey here, I believe it is for the best. I’m genuinely excited to write the next chapter of my book, potentially with more infinity symbols in it. The last three years with the Foundation and the #ICP ecosystem have been the most exciting, fulfilling, and challenging years of my life. I’ve learned more than I ever imagined, and I had the honor of working alongside the most brilliant and passionate people I’ve ever met — too many to squeeze in here. These years have also come with some unique and novel hardships, but if I could go back, I would do it again in a heartbeat. 🫡 This isn’t a goodbye. I plan to stick around in the #ICP community — a space that has become truly close to my heart, packed with amazing people. ❤️ That said, it feels good to step back a bit and take a breather. I was involved with countless community discussions over the years — some more heated than others. My ideas may not have always been to your liking, but know that I always had ICP’s best interests at heart. I could go on, but I’ll stop here. Love you all — cheers! 🥂❤️

While there are conflicts between nations and companies, decentralized compute will always have a place. Today, it’s not as mainstream as our industry would have hoped, but if it had no use cases, it would have already died out.

Yes, some DAOs are more decentralized than others, and many benefit in the speed of development from a dev team. BOB is at a point in my opinion that doesn’t require too many extra bells and whistles in order to fulfill its mission - Proof of Onchain Work (kinda) memecoin, mined fairly using smart contracts. I don’t see it being a problem that 90+% of the community is non-technical. The remaining few percent can drive development. The rest of the community can still vote or follow technical leaders like they do on the NNS, and other SNSs.

DAOs really can't be community driven because to participate you need to be able to code, and 90+% of a DAO are non-coders. Truly DAOs are a charade of decentralization in which people simply follow the devs, who then do very centralized actions without which progress doesn't happen. Then comes another issue, in that those who can program and change a DAO for the better are not sitting on giant financial allocations of the tokens, and all have the same thought "why should I work on this project if the devs will benefit, I'll just build my own project and become the main dev" and thus the cycle continues. Icpswap and Kong are a good example. Absolutely vital to have as much liquidity as possible in an exchange. Instead of programmers vying to simply "buy ICS and then work together to make icpswap great" they simply build their own DEX. This is seen in all DAOs, and is a philosophical issue with DAOs conceptually and imo needs to be solved before we can have true "decentralization" of any kind.
